![]() IQ - Seven Stories Into Eight / Seven Stories Into 98 Genres: Neo-Prog Starting with Disc 2, the demo version from 1982, and then going onto the rerecording. There's something about awkward early synths and demo recordings that can be charming if you know how to do it right. Considering that neo-prog was still in the development stages at this time, it makes the cheesy synths you'd find in modern indie comfy synth and stuff like that feel cute. But the compositions themselves really aren't bad at all. But I have to wonder why they waited 2.5 tracks to finally get to the singer. Thankfully, the instrumentation really works on this early demo. I quite like this, not just for the historical context but for the fact that it maintains a good magical prog vibe despite the outdated instruments.
