Yeah, not a huge fan of any of these but always heard great things about The Wire, what I've seen of Sopranos, I wasn't so impressed.
For 'body count', to me it's Game of Thrones which I also happen to think is the best series ever made. |

Breaking Bad has the unique quality amongst TV shows of just getting better and better until that killer season 5 where it all kicks off. Along the way you get some interesting family drama surrounding cancer diagnosis (so true and very relatable) as well as one of the most memorable gangster characters ever created (''Gus'' as played by Giancarlo Esposito) and various other great characters. 10/10 perfect show if ever there was.
I also like The Walking Dead but it went on forever. I haven't watched the others but I know they are highly valued and rated.

I very much like Dragon, and on an unrelated note Wolf Hall season 2 is up in a couple weeks on PBS. Should be superb. |

Hi, Agreed. For me, it was like pure literature on film, which is always better for me. HOUSE OF DRAGON is not half as good, because the folks putting it together are not fans of literature or the life of a work in film. It has become a story, that lacks a soul in my book. Still nice to watch, now and then, but none of the episodes in the series of HoD has come close to some of the way GOT was done and setup. It's what happens when the people in charge are not about film and story ... they are about the fans, supposedly, and they could not give a damn about the stories or literature. That's for me, what is bringing down HoD more and more ... I'm not even getting interested in the third season of the whole thing ... I think they have destroyed the story which was invented to setup what some folks wanted, not create a solid story that is continuing ... the continuity of HoD is totally screwed up, not to mention that the majority of the women in it are not attractive, or as interesting as the ones were created and developed in GoT. And we're not talking about sex or sexy. I think HoD would have been better if the women were younger and the story did not jump so far ahead ... because the folks writing it did not have any continuity to work with anyway!

^ I don't know, that's a bit unfair-- the women are plenty young in the first season and in some cases much more interesting and strong than any of the Starks or Lannisters. It's true Dragon doesn't have the depth of GoT (apparently people love dwarfs with scars) but the scattered story may pay off as things progress ~ gotta love Paddy Considine's performance as Viserys. Compared to most TV, I think Dragon is uncommonly good.

^ I think it mainly failed on not having enough action (but then cynics would also say 'not enough bare breasts') plus too much night scenes in the rain when you can't see what's going on.

I never really go into any of these shows in the poll, some I just neglected. I started watching The Walking Dead but then was getting a bit bored I don't know how many episodes in. When I saw the title of this topic the first show that came to my mind is Dexter (although I never made it through all of the seasons). Fargo then came to mind next (superb). And a huge favourite of mine is HBO's Westworld (especially the first season, but I thought the last was extremely good too, and I liked the second season much more than most). As for Game of Thrones, I loved that first season, really liked the second season... Have yet to make it through House of the Dragon, but Matt Smith is excellent in what I saw of it.

Breaking Bad, then The Walking Dead (only the early seasons) up the moment one of the main characters got their head stoved in - after that it became a drag.

I've never seen any of them. I'm still catching up with old episodes of Police Story.

The Shield broke the stale cop drama mold and made "bad cops good guys" in a setting (L.A.'s South Bay region) where that should've been logistically impossible. I could care less about awards, but Michael Chiklis deserved that Emmy!

That was an incredible performance in that role. I read that the producers didn't think he could pull off that role given the lighter fare he had done earlier in his career, but they gave him the chance. He proved himself is an understatement.
