Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Hi,

When the film came out, there were a couple of places that had the show in Quad ... so at least many of us had that experience. Having had the privilege of seeing them at The Hollywood Bowl in Quad, made seeing this film a must ... but sadly, it was too late, and the majority of DSOTM folks were not exactly a bunch of PF fans that had enjoyed some nifty things, prior to DSOTM days.

I only wish that there was a way that those shows could be shown on DVD, or CD, with more than just the Stereo tracking ... to see this in a QUAD environment, at least, would make the music stand up a lot better and I suppose that this release will get closer to things, but not for me ... seeing The Wall in Quad when it came out, and then RW's version in the worst stereo mix ever ... is about ruining a band's legacy ... but I am not sure that the "fans" ever gave a damn about the QUAD thing ... everytime I mention it, it's like ... what is that? ... or totally ignored, which suggests that the experience was way beyond what a lot of fans have ever, or will ever, see and hear!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I've read elsewhere that there will be a vinyl issue only without the film released in May...

What's the point?? Confused

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Looks/sounds very nice! The original recording is very dear to me (the definitive recording of the Echoes long track, as far as I am concerned), so I'm really looking forward to checking out the new mix. Judging from this preview, I think it works. I'm sure Steven was extra careful, given that PF are his favorite band ...

Hi,

... a nice home movie ... per Nick Mason.

Pretty much all of the film, is available (or was!!!) in various bootlegs, with the only things cut out being the DSOTM stuff, which, in my book, was not necessary, but gave the band a new look at their future.

I loved it THEN, as I said, and missed the QUAD on it ... but I don't think this release can come close to helping me feel that again. I have not met headsets that can do quad at all, and my cartridge on the turntable is not the best for tht kind of quality. If I could afford it, the cartridge I wanted is about $450 bux ... but worth every penny of it, in what you hear.

I think SW is working on trying to get closer to that QUAD thing with his new album ... assuming it comes out really well and not just a bunch of songs, that ... don't mean much otherwise. His lyrics are a bit on the tiresome side for me and have not stood out for at least 10 to 15 years.
