I have a pretty good memory for such things commonly because I have been list making and following lists and charts for many years, so my brain has been trained that way (something I have been doing since I joined PA). It does make it much easier with Mike's site functionality, especially for me with the recommendations which can lead to very long lists. I do end up adding lot of acts and albums to its database because my interests can get quite obscure, go outside Prog and just be into a lot of music that that site tends not to cover amongst huge and lesser-known names.. I used to use Prog Archives charts a lot, one can search that by year, and I used rateyourmusic charts to find releases (that is an amazing resource). I've heard claims that that PA can be list-obsessed. I find that the process of searching for music and listing it helps to not only learn about a wider variety of music, but also helps to deepen my appreciation for music.

I do hope people will share lists here. I love to be able to compare and discuss. We have had lots that focused on Prog in top tens and lists, but I like to see a wider variety of music for a wide variety of years.

Actually it's just 2 difficult editing the lists down so I'm doing 200 for each decade (that is 10 x 20 so doesn't infringe the rules I think??!)

Richard, I really like your 60s list. The only one of those I don't know is the Deep Purple, I like all of the other listed albums including the one that are not in my lists either the top 20 above or my longer ones at AwesomeProg.

Of course I have many faves of mine in the 70s list. From the 80s. Kate Bush's The Dreaming is the standout for me, followed by the Talk Talk and the other Bush albums, and also Tangerine Dream's Tangram... I used to love Rush's Moving Pictures but have not listened to it in full in very many years. I had a roommate who was a very avid Rush fan and it put me off Rush a bit. He said that he would pay me to burn (like with a fire not onto a CD) my Bauhaus music. LOL. Pride, and my conservational values, stopped me from accepting the quite generous monetary offer.

For your 90s list, Radiohead's OK Computer is a particular favourite, and I really like Cardiacs' Sing to God and Talk Talk's Laughing Stock. And I like The bends. I also really like Blade Runner. I also have one archival release in my album with Perry Leopold (I usually prefer to list it for when it was recorded in the 70s but added it to the release year). And I like Hybris and Amarok.

For your 2000s list, I love Radsiohead's Kid A, and like In Rainbows very much. i also like that Kotebel.

For the 2010s, I adore David Bowie's Blackstar, it's my album of the decade. Wonderful swansong, such a poignant culmination of a career in music to me. I love Far Corner's and Elephant 9's Walk the Nile. I really like Bent Knee's Say So (amazing singer) and like the Astra...

I added Gary Numan to Awesome Prog with Tubeway Army, which I listed under his "solo" albums three days ago when I made my list rather than separate entries. I added a lot of artists and albums as I made my lists there. Replicas is something of a nostalgic choice for me as my brother had the album and I first heard it when I was eight or nine and it was one of the first rock-related albums I remember liking. That and Alan Parsons Project's I Robot. I do think it ended up being very influential to my tastes album, but then it connected with me immediately as a child. I was much more into classical music as a youth, like my son is now. About the hardest my rock got was Led Zeppelin as a teen and then Black Sabbath. It was as a teen that I got into Prog (stuff like Focus, Gryphon, Yes) and back into it as a sort of nostalgia thing in the early 2000s. I have been attracted to quirky, atmospheric and ambient music since I was young. Jerry Goldsmith's and John Barry's soundtracks were a big influence on my maturing brain. I have added a few albums to my lists (and added more albums to Awesome Prog) since I put those lists up.

I've since added some to AwesomeProg for 1959 and missed various favourite albums from the early 60s which I am adding to AwesomeProg now and then to my lists there, and then will edit that into my first post.
