This poll is comprised of three main sections, plus an "other" option to be used if none of the listed options hold much appeal or are known to you.

- The first set of eight is the eight top eight albums in the PA chart for 2019 (with no filters set except for the year).
- The second section of eight is from the top nine of the PA Collab AOTY Event. The album of the year (IQ's Resistance) is the top ranked album in the PA chart and so not duplicated.
- The Third section are my top eight as listed at Awesome Prog.
- Then "other" as said if none of the choice hold much appeal.

Please vote for your favourite in the poll if there is one you like and mention any favourites not listed. For instance, one might vote for Big Big Train's Grand Tour but then state that your actual favourite is The Flower Kings' Waiting for Miracles.

Again, no multiple-choice, but mention all your faves in a post if you want to share. Sharing is caring! :)

Swans from the list, followed by The Comet is Coming, Vanishing Twin, Lingua Ignota.

(Non prog) albums of the year:
Matmos - Plastic Anniversary,  Elbejee - Homeopathic Waft of Signal
In prog I was very positively surprised by Banco's Transiberiana. Chances are I'll love the Cisnienie album, but I haven't heard it yet.

I think I'll go for ni's Pantophobie. I've been trapped all day inside a container of pistachio pudding.

Flip a coin between Stephan Thelen's Fractal Guitar and Motorpsycho's The Crucible. Yes I voted "other".
And there are others on here I like a lot like Opeth, Jordsjo, Melting Clock, Monkey3 and IQ.
How about Le Grand Sbam? Love the vocals on that one.

2019 I didn't explore prog much at all, I ran into a year long obsession with classical music that ran most of the year. In my LastFM stats, it's the year that most of my evergreen bands have a shocking dip in plays due to this. From this list, I think I've only even heard the Magma and Lingua Ignota albums, and in both cases I listened to them less than their prior albums. I gave my vote to Magma.

Winner of the year for me is Devin Townsend's Empath, which knocked me out of the classical mood late in the year and is (in my mind) easily one of his top albums.

Turilli & Leone Rhapsody, the second Luca-Turilli spin off of Rhapsody, released their fantastic but more or less missed 'Zero Gravity' that year. In 2021, when I finally was able to start exploring music again, this was the first album that really clicked with me and I will always have a soft spot for it for that, especially the track 'Oceano'. It was quitting a job that I was quite miserable in and getting a new one that gave me the chance to reconnect with music, and that track in particular always reminds me of that feeling of breathing a fresh breath of air and a weight being lifted off my shoulder. I associate it more with 2021 than 2019 but since the actual release was 2019, that goes here.

But yeah, almost all my 2019 albums are classical music, which while I enjoyed them I strangely find it hard to rate as albums.

IQ again...
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
