By psyched I don't mean psychedelic, but instead excited and enthusiastic. One need not be that literal anyway. It's supposed to be a cute title. Unless I made some mistakes, these are 25 albums that Psychedelic Paul gave five star reviews to in his Prog Britannia - Album Reviews (CLICK) thread. Please check it out for more details.

I mentioned the idea of this as a possible series in his latest Logan's Run topic (a series that references favourite female artists of mine). See HERE (CLICK). But I then kind of regretted it as I know Paul, as with most of us, commonly likes "to do it his way" and I think it's better to do oneself what one may suggest of others. So here's my little effort (pales in comparison to the efforts of Logan's Run). Might consider a Bruford's Freak Out, A Stormin' Mellotron Storm poll, Richard's Riches, Lewian's Lusts etc. (last needs work) for some other posters five star faves. :)

Paul presents his polls as vote for one (always?, usually?), so no multiple choice.

JON ANDERSON - Olias of Sunhillow (1976)
ANDROMEDA - Andromeda (1969)
ARCADIUM - Breathe Awhile (1969)
AUDIENCE - Friend's Friend's Friend (1970)
BACHDENKEL - Lemmings (1970)
TONY BANKS - A Curious Feeling (1979)
CANTERBURY GLASS - Sacred Scenes and Characters (recorded 1968, released 2007)
CIRCUS - Circus (1969)
CRESSIDA - Cressida (1970)
ENGLAND - Garden Shed (1977)
FANTASY - Paint a Picture (1973)
FRUUPP - Future Legends (1973)
FUCHSIA - Fuchsia (1971)
ROBERT JOHN GODFREY - Fall of Hyperion (1974)
THE GODS - Genesis (1968)
THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH - Horizons (1970)
JUSTIN HAYWARD & JOHN LODGE - Blue Jays (1975)
ILLUSION - Out of the Mist (1977)
KHAN - Space Shanty (1972)
JON LORD - Gemini Suite (1971)
NEKTAR - Journey to the Centre of the Eye (1971)
QUATERMASS - Quatermass (1970)
SPRING - Spring (1971)
STILL LIFE - Still Life (1971)
RICHARD WRIGHT - Wet Dream (1978)

Kind of feels wrong not to have Mostly Autumn (and Magenta?) here, but these were the first 25 to come up in his topic that I mentioned earlier that I noticed having five stars.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I have not heard all of these albums, but the one that has meant the most to me is Khan's Space Shanty. I actually couldn't listen to it for considerable years due to certain associations as I had played it a lot during a very difficult and trying time back in 2007 and 2008. "Hollow Stone" still makes me feel lachrymose, heavy and kind of empty at the same time. Anyway, Khan gets my vote. I expect some Star Trek references might appear.

Surprisingly, I only own six of these albums on CD and it's almost impossible to pick an overall favourite when they're all favourites of mine, so I'll vote for the first album I ever ordered from Amazon (in late 2011), which also happens to be the album I play the most.  Smile

Khan and Nektar are the two that stood out for me, went with Space Shanty.

I'll vote for Gemini Suite - it's kind of a follow-up to 'Concerto for Group & Orchestra in that it's rock incorporated within classical structures, but all to often it gets overlooked/neglected.
Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?

I should have at least mentioned Bachdenkel's Lemmings record. That would round out my top three on here.

I went with Nektar, but could have chosen Jon Anderson or Still Life.

Went with Olias today.

Hi,

I got this album in 1971 in some used bin somewhere, likely Santa Barbara ... and of your whole list, I don't thing I worn down any LP as much as I did this one ... and get this ... I bought it because of the cover, only to find a really far out album, that had some special stuff in it ... the symphonic/electronic passages in the album were far out and well done ... but everyone could only talk about the one song ... that some DP guy (can't remember well, but I think he was DP) did it later ... AND NOT BETTER!

Some names/folks from that band went on to a lot of nice things, which tells yo they were not exactly hackers, or garage band folks.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Simply down to human error. I don't recall, but I often miss the obvious and make mistakes when compiling things. Maybe the fact that it's the album that has meant the most to me and I get the strongest emotional reaction from of these played its part in the oversight.

^Tony Banks, too! For some reason that one jumped out at me first. Khan and England would be my second and third choices. My forehead is covered with airmail stamps again.

Browsing the list I would have voted for Jon, but the very last was Rick who gets my vote.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Khan is the rare album that both Paul and I rate five stars.
