I saw a post there this morning before it went down again saying something to the effect of possibly needing a new server or more disk space or something like that.

I'm not closing the thread as it useful to be able to discuss PE particularly while it's down as a number of us use both. But I'm deleting anything off topic in here. Stop it.

Where in the "Philly Burbs"? I was from the West Chester/ Exton area. We moved down to Cary NC, three years ago. I am Painter over on PE too. Found this place to find out about the 509 error

Cool. Where in Raleigh? I work at NC State.

BTW, we saw BEAT in Durham. What a show! What a venue.

I have not and it is only over in Chapel Hill. Maybe a twenty minute drive. I looked at the last year's activities and it looks pretty cool. We will have to pop on over there this year if we have nothing else in the docket

On the eastern side down 40. He and his girl both work downtown. I saw the BEAT show advertised, but I wasn't able to make it.

Yep. It's a lot of fun. I went many years ago and was involved for a few years. It's about an 8 hour drive for me which I usually split up in two days. One of these days I hope to return.

I've always wanted to go, but it falls near family birthdays. Never make it. I sat next to one of the promoters at the Steve Hackett show last year...cool guy.

I have an account on that site though I have made few posts only. The only sour experience I have had was on RYM [Rate your Music] where a mod was decidedly unhappy about one of my music album additions to the site and decided to retrospectively look into/cancel [dunno if he ever removed all of my submissions] all of my past ones.

Either case, Progressive Ears has a better search system, IMO than PA. It's hard to fine old threads/posts here and the search bar sometimes only returns uncertain results for me here.

Do you remember his name? I was on the promotions team years ago. Michael Bennet is the main guy who runs it now and I think he lives locally but he's more than just a promoter.

Oh yeah. I don't care for some of the behavior of the fans (especially if they win) but I think it's a good way to bring people together overall. I won't say they have it in the bag but it should be a very interesting game.

As an aside I have a nephew who goes to USC and plays ultimate frisbee down there on their team. Although I've been to N.C. a few times (for Progday) I've only been to S.C. once.

I don't recall. I have his business card at the house, though...I'll see if I can find it.

On P.E. there are members who are more likely to talk about Jade Warrior, Ange, Pulsar and other European underground bands. At least it seems that way. This is of interest because you've got PE members who will offer up information about these bands that you sometimes won't find on the internet.

Unfortunately there are a lot of snooty people on P.E. who think of music as a competitive sport. I don't think of music in that way and I try to avoid members of the site that do. Some of the opinions on P.E. I have difficulties in accepting. If you dislike Jethro Tull that is your right....but to say that Ian Anderson is not great on flute is just silly. Of course he's not the greatest..but he could improvise like Herbie Mann or Mel Collins if he wanted to. He just has no desire to. It's the musicians in Kiss and Grand Funk Railroad who are not great on their instruments . So on P.E. you'll have 2 or 3 members stating that Ian Anderson is not very good and then the next post down you'll have members talking about how great Grand Funk Railroad are on their instruments...and it's such a turn off

Alan Holdsworth is often tossed around in conversation like the greatest guitarist on earth. He's often held above other phenomenal players and it's not accurate to say so logically. I sometimes see more of a sharing process on Prog Archives where people actually agree on viewpoints other than their own.

There are also P.E. members which hail from Cumberland County, New Jersey and that particular area has no culture and regarding music it has a back in the woods mentality..which is very backwards, macho...and moronic to me. And that exists on P.E. which doesn't seem to surface too much on Progarchives.
