If someone were to ask me what my very favorite jazz album of all-time was, I would unhesitatingly reply, "Miles Davis's In a Silent Way". In the same way that Abbey Road (also from 1969) foreshadowed everything that was to follow in pop/rock, In a Silent Way does exactly the same for jazz/fusion.

While I wouldn't count Santanas debut as Jazz Fusion, I think Caravanserai and a few more of his later albums of his "qualifies" as such. I'd say the Alice Coltrane (included is a 1970-release btw) and Pharoah Sanders albums included here, are even less associated with anything Jazz Fusion. Atlantis by Sun Ra is pretty much improvised Free Jazz, and not much to write home about. Fusion or not, I just think of which albums I enjoy here - or not.
