Änglagård. The Izz album is pretty cool, too. This afternoon I'm going to chase my tail around until I get dizzy.

I have only heard the Änglagård and Kotebel album in the poll in full. Going with Viljans Öga. By the way, I have heard Neal Morse called a genius more than once, but I just don't hear that or get that.

Very close. My vote could flip in a week.

Very close between Kotobel, Echolyn, and Änglagård. Voted for Echolyn.

His music does fall into the "samey" category but there really is some pretty fine music to be discovered! If you've heard one album of his, you have kind of heard 'em all. LOL
I have always had a polarizing relationship with his solo work and am currently in a state of mind in which I prefer to enjoy the things that I like rather than looking for the genius moments (which would be difficult to find post-Spock's Beard, right?). I think he basically applies the SB formula from the early 2000s but always with some twists and turns, he also uses a lot of guests and collaborators which helps to shake things up. And in this regard, the two Neal Morse Band double concept albums from 2016 and 2019 are actually darn good!

Thanks, I'll check out more Neal Morse Band music.  :)  Some are more liberal with the genius term than others and there are different ways to use it.  To me when calling someone a genius it commonly involves being a visionary with amazingly exceptional creative talents, often incredibly capable at tasks, as well as having enormous intelligence overall.  Often polymaths, but not necessarily so.  I also tried to get a sense of his genius by listening to interviews with him.

Anglagard over Kotebel. I would describe both albums here as sophisticated.

Never understood the hype surrounding Viljans Oga. It's Anglagard from 20 years earlier when they were already 'retro'. So it's 'retro retro' prog!

I like the Banks Of Eden album a lot. Roine Stolte learns to 'edit' his music. Well done chap! (that's my vote)

Glass Hammer - Perilous is the last of what I would call the 'Jon Davison trilogy' series of albums before he went on to ruin Yes (that's me trying to be ironic btw). It's a bit quirkier than If and Cor Cordium and might find favour with those who generally dislike their 'Yes fanboyism'. It gives an idea where they could have gone if Davison had stuck around. Strong release but I prefer many GH albums over tbh.
