Hackett's The Tokyo Tapes. The next time I come up to bat I'm gonna use an air mattress.

Pretty much. We Can't Dance is just a bad album. Driving the Last Spike is the only track I really like on this album. Fading lights is just ok. The rest, well if I was going to list Genesis' 10 worst songs, at least 5 would come from this album. At this point in their career, when I heard Genesis was releasing a new album, I didn't even care. Borrowed the CD from a friend just to check it out. I had seen the video I Can't Dance and heard the song No Son of Mine. So there was not much confidence that there was going to be much good on this album. It turn out to be worse than expected. Complete waste of talent, time and energy from this band. |

All I've heard is the Genesis unfortunately...
...Not unfortunately because I have not heard the others, unfortunately because I have heard the Genesis. :p A friend asked me when We Can't Dance had just come out out if he should buy the album. I told him to go for it. I still regret that advice to this day. Edited by Logan - January 04 2025 at 02:33 |

Did he like the album? I own the album, but then again I bought most of their albums. For the three long songs alone, it was worth it. I really like those three songs.

I saw We Can't Dance in a charity shop recently for £1, but that was Many Too Many pennies to pay for my least favourite Genesis album.

He did not, and he complained about it. Not the first time or last time that he asked my opinion and then complained about what I told him afterwards. Ultimately I was pretty noncommittal and clear that he should do what he wants. Oh well, that's Don being Don. |

We Can't Dance for the 27 minutes of prog in Driving The Last Spike, Fading Lights and Dreaming While I Sleep. I also don't dislike No Son Of Mine and Jesus He Knows Me. At 37 minutes those tracks would have made an okay album, admittedly the rest is drivel and 71 minutes is not justified. I do own Steve Hackett's Tokyo Tapes but havent played it for years. It's a live album mostly of covers. It's okay as well but I'm not voting for live albums in these polls.
