I voted for Kotebel's Omphalos. I found that to be one of my most exciting contemporary finds of 2006 after discovering the band's website before the official release date of Omphalos. I used to be a huge fan of Focus (classic Focus anyway), and I enjoyed that album. One album that was much lauded at the time that did little for me is PFM's Stati di Immaginazione. Classic PFM was a particular fave of mine in the mid 2000s. I have not listened to it again since 2006 and might feel differently now.
