I only revisited this 4-year-old thread recently, so I still have a large backlog of votes to add on from this time last year.

No, there's only a restriction on including just one album per artist in our own personal Top 10 lists (which is mainly to avoid "fanboyism", where I'd be tempted to list ten albums by Renaissance if that rule didn't apply), but there's no reason why the same artist can't appear several times in the overall Top 40. I hope that makes sense (at this early hour in the morning).

Paul, shouldn't the final top ten only include only one album per artist? As it is now there is 3 from both Genesis and Yes in the top ten.
Just a suggestion to see some other artists in the top ten. |

With seven albums currently in the Top 39, Genesis had every classic album BUT Nursery Cryme in the list. When I finally get around to adding Cindy's 10 points on though, Nursery Cryme WILL be on the list with 37 points.

^ How extraordinary... Genesis - Nursery Cryme didn't make it onto the list.

1. Yes- "The Yes Album"
2. Wobbler- " From Silence To Somewhere" 3. Moon Safari- "Blomljud" 4. ELP- "Works Vol I" 5. Genesis- " Nursery Cryme" 6. Anglagard- "Hybris" 7. The Chronicles of Father Robin-" Book One" 8. Kansas- "Leftovertour" 9. Lars Fredrik Frøislie- " Fire Fortellinger" 10. Camel- "Moonmadness" I stuck with PA's Symphonic Prog sub-genre list. I consider Caligonaut Symphonic, so they get an honorable mention. I like the one album per band approach. I surprised myself with some of my choices. I think Tales should be commended more for what it tried to achieve than what it actually did. Did it alienate some listeners? Probably. It seems to be loved the most by the most hardcore Yes fans. Most less hardcore fans don't tend to think as highly of it. There's maybe four or five Yes records I like better but it's still one of their best imo.

It certainly holds a special place in the prog music universe. Notorious for many as to where Yes (and prog by extension) 'jumped the shark' yet the purest statement of intent you will ever have. I find it a bit ploddy personally. Love the numbers 2 and 3 in your list though.

It's perhaps the greatest prog album ever made (yes, I'm one of THOSE people), though I get why some don't like it
