Two Mike Oldfield albums

I was planning to return to this poll at dawn, but I may as well vote now while I'm here. 

I think Return is a beautiful disk and have voted for it, purely because out of the two, I would prefer to hear it more often. I respect Amarok a great deal and think its brilliant, but it's one of those disks where I really have to be in the mood... 

Return to Ommadawn, but I like Amarok almost the same.

Amarok is the greatest album Oldfield has ever done. It's so perfectly and utterly bizarre and brilliant that I love every nanosecond of it.

I voted for I only know Amarok, and I never really became a Mike Oldfield fan despite enjoying Oldfield music. Maybe I would be if I put some effort into it but I'm plowing different fields now (there's a Sally Oldfield reference related by way of Sally Field). Some old fields are best left fallow.

I believe I remember reading that at the time he made Amarok, Oldfield considered it as if he was making a sort of sequel to Ommadawn. Apparently decades later we did get the real sequel to Ommadawn. As it is, I do prefer Return to Ommadawn, I really loved how well he achieved to come back to his sound of the 70's I love so much, it could have been recorded just after Incantations. Still, the original Ommadawn remains king.
