but I'm not quite so enthusiastic about it that I couldn't imagine coming across a better one in the remaining months. Anyway, Aquaserge pretty reliably do stuff that I love in recent years. And that's definitely not because they sound always the same. Quite the opposite.

Have you listened to the new album by Fievel is Glauque? I think that you may enjoy it if you like Aquaserge.
Will check it out, thanks!

Thanks for this. Great album indeed, melodic and with a positive atmosphere, still sophisticated and quirky. Apparently not on PA but probably should be.

I knew about GY!BE, I listened a bit, but I can't get into their newer albums, since their comeback. I don't think they come even close to their old(er) work.

I think most of my top albums this year have been releases by bands I already knew.

Top of head, Devin Townsend, Leprous, Bent Knee and Beardfish are maybe the top ones so far. Frost* and Weather systems are promising too.

Sleeptyime Gorilla Museum was one of the most anticipated, I listened to it a bunch, it's all there, very much SGM, but somehow nothing connected with me like their old material - I cant' remember a single song off of it anymore. Not sure if I've changed or this just isn't as good as their old albums. Hoping to give it a spin sometime in the future and find that I'm more receptive to it. But it's the one I was most sure would be on this list that surprises me the most.

New Pineapple Thief, Big Big Train went in one ear and out the other, but I find both of these bands have great moments in a sea of stuff that doesn't stick to me.

New Nightwish was bland.

Motorpsycho was consistently good like they always are, but been a while since they were elevated to exciting for me.

Outside prog, I really had fun with Barns Courtney's new album.
