The classic line-up circa 1973 BIO Pescado Rabioso was a rock band from Argentina, founded in 1971. Their classic line-up, left to right in the photo, consisted of Luis Alberto Spinetta (guitar, vocals), David Lebón (bass, vocals), Black Amaya (drums) and Carlos Cutaia (keyboards). Drawing inspiration from Psychedelia, Blues and Progressive Rock, Pescado Rabioso released their debut studio album, Desatormentándonos, in 1972. The sophomore, Pescado Rabioso 2, released 1973, is a double album showing the wide variety of styles merged in their eclectic sound. That same year Lebón, Amaya and Cutaia left, and Spinetta regrouped with two former Almendra members, Emilio Del Guercio (bass) and Rodolfo García (drums), and brother Gustavo Spinetta (drums). Also in 1973, Pescado Rabioso released Artaud, their third and last studio album, considered by many as their best. Thanks for this, I'll bring them to the team. Please note that PSIKE are still moving slowly right now and will need time to evaluate.

The team unanimously voted to move them to Prog-Related, as we felt their case was a bit weak for Psych. We're figuring out how to go about that, as the process of submission for Related confuses even me, a long-time PA member.

I guess you would have read this: Prog Related Submissions Policy Consider PMing us at some time with the case, and present the strongest arguments for how it fits with the criteria listed for the definition and look at the case as it relates to the PROG RELATED (CLICK) The more boxes that are ticked off the better for the results (a really good knowledge of the history helps). Actually, since there has not been much discussion in this thread (unless there was in your team thread), I would post a topic on it in the collab zone forum "Artists/Bands under evaluation" to get the feedback of various collabs, and discuss it there, and if that goes well and it gets a good reception from the general collabs, then it should be a shoe-in for Prog Related. The more detailed the Prog relations are spelled out, the better for the results. I also do like to listen to the most Prog-like/ related music since the music as well as the personnel relations matter (a reason why Phil Collins is not included). In this case I am already quite familiar with their music, but it helps to show all the Prog relations (music, personelle, its influence on Prog in the region etc as well as which Prog bands were an influence on it. Anything relevant). There have been other threads on it: https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=53278 https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=128087 Note that it was rejected earlier for PA and that team did not even think it Prog Related worthy. But as said, the more complete case that is presented the better. Since it had been considered before and rejected, I think that is all the more reason to start a new thread on it in the collab zone. Then if that goes well, maybe present a case by PM to admin which sums up the best arguments and facts. It's meant not to be that easy to get into Prog Related (built in hurdles, which requires some effort, passion and dedication often to push through -- some cases are so obvious). The category is not meant just for Proggy bands/artists that didn't make it elsewhere but for outstanding/ remarkable cases even if it has not always worked out that way. I wish to offer the following observation, that can be useful for the ongoing evaluation process:
The synths playing by Cutaia was considered seminal back then, when nobody else in this country was playing those instruments yet, and the influence of bands like Traffic or Yes was still underground. He opened that field to Charly García, who founded key prog bands, like Sui Generis, La Máquina De Hacer Pájaros, and Seru Giran. In the second of these groups (LMDHP), Cutaia was playing Keyboards alongside García, pushing him forward in dexterity and compositional skills (as acknowledged by García himself). They are now in the hands of Prog-Related for evaluation, as PSIKE found them just-so but not-quite prog enough. Thanks for the additional information, Eduardo.

This is a track (widely considered a masterpiece) showing a more Symphonic side of the band, with orchestra hitting after the 3' mark.
It's been released under two different titles: Cristálida (the most frequent), and Aguas Claras Del Olimpo (Clear Waters Of Olympus). |

With the thread on Spinetta whom I have supported for Prog Related, but would need another yes, and then not only should a more detailed bio be presented but also the relations and significance to Prog and specific acts in PA should be mentioned for the bio (mention all directly related projects in PA) to explain why the artist deserves to be in Prog Related as well as mentioning the most relevant to Prog music from the artist, I was reminded of Pascado Rabioso which would have been clearly long ago for Prog Related except that we were waiting for another vote from Keishiro, but he had to step down due to personal issues, and this got forgotten. Wow, that is way too long a sentence -- hopefully still somewhat readable. Anyway, Gordy had brought forward Rasbioso to us the PR admin dudes, and with the sole two PR dudes having said yes to it, it is cleared for addition.
Hopefully someone better than I will add it ere long (I think any SC can add to Prog Related cause traditionally admin would not do that themselves). Maybe Gordy can cater to that as he officially catered to bringing it to us and is awesome at such things. I was going to add it myself but then realised that the bio needs more beefing up with details, maybe could be more original, and there should be a paragraph spelling out the connections to Prog, significance to progressive music and the Argentine Prog scene as well as the most relevant music. I see I already went into that before above. Of course INVISIBLE is included in our Symphonic Prog category. SPINETTA JADE is included in our JRF category. So, again, this is to note that it is cleared for Prog Related. Hopefully it will be catered to at some time, but not by me. Edited by Logan - 21 hours 14 minutes ago at 20:01 |

Alright, this is what I can do: 1) I will prepare a Bio for the L.A.Spinetta thread, trying to follow the guidelines of your lager-than-life sentence. That will be for the case that the OP in that thread fail to present one of his own. 2) I'll soon be "beefing up" the Pescado bio in this thread, if you forgive my lack of originality! The data have to be, necessarily, the same as everywhere else, but I'll try to add some insight concerning the importance of the band for Prog Rock in Argentina. Anyway, if some further modification is needed, you can reach me by PM anytime. Thanks to you both for support and guidance, and to Gordy in advance. |

Thanks for that. As for originality, I have tended to go too far with it by making it seems very unprofessional by adding my ridiculous personality into the equation (sometimes even making my usual stupid double-entendres, subtle enough that the non-attentive and some who lack English skills will not notice). Linking to related bands, mentioning the most relevant to Prog albums and influence on progressive music in the final pargraphy would be awesome! Much appreciated.
I would do it myself, but my mind is just all there these days. Not quite sure where it is or if I ever will find it.... Feeling particularly stupid these days, anyway. |
