Here is the third installment in these poll series dedicated to the year 2002! As far as I'm concerned this is a fantastic year for heavy music with progressive leanings, too many favorites here making it difficult to choose... The other winners so far (these might change as the older polls remain open): 2000: Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun 2001: Opeth - Blackwater Park

Nice poll!
Tough choice, I gave my vote to the underrated & underappreciated Threshold.

Agalloch's The Mantle for me.
EDIT: By the way, I think this is such a great album and I hope that various others at the forum appreciate it as much as me. Edited by Logan - 5 hours 43 minutes ago at 06:14 |

Remedy Lane here...
Vanden Plas would probably get the runner up spot?

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Would have voted for Porcupine Tree, but IMHO it's not exactly "heavy prog". They're quite heavy at times, but much less so than most other bands in the poll.

^ It's a tough choice ... many releases in the list are crowning achievements in the bands' discographies.

Yes nice to see Agalloch in this poll, it's a great album indeed and also one of my favorites here. Going to play it today My personal top pick would be Meshuggah's Nothing, probably their best album to me! |
