Greetings, Forum! Hopefully things are all good! Some three years ago I did a series of polls named Random Album Clash, which featured a variety of albums from every year since 1967 to 2020, and the results were very interesting. Some may remember these poll series were running for many weeks and ultimately included polls dedicated to the champions of each year in each decade, followed by a final poll including the champion of each decade, of course, won by Gentle Giant's 'Octopus', followed closely by Rush's 'Moving Pictures'. Not too surprising to see how the older albums tend to get more appreciation, right? And it's probably deserved and self-explanatory, but in any case I decided to try out something new... Let's dedicate a series of polls to heavy progressive music from the 21st century and see what comes out! Each poll here will feature a selection of 10 albums that are either explicitly progressive or leaning towards progressive strongly, meaning that you are free to choose your favorite from the bunch and tell us what you picked. Feel free to give your own suggestions in the thread as many albums will naturally be excluded from the poll which self-confines its selection to just ten entries. With this in mind, each year from this century will be represented until we reach 2024, which is the year that shall be followed by a more conclusive final poll featuring each winning entry from every year. Enjoy and hopefully this poll will introduce some of the forum users to new albums and bands! Remember, this is only dedicated to "heavy" progressive albums.

Ayreon > Porcupine Tree > Enchant. Every knowledge base I've entered has a herd of giant hassocks roaming around and eating unassociated piles of punctuation.

I usually don't check in on the metal or heavy prog polls since I don't know the bands and albums very well but I'm surprised to say that I actually know 80% of these albums pretty well. My vote could go to Green Carnation, Fates Warning, Porcupine Tree, or A Perfect Circle, but I think today I'd say I like Pain of Salvation's album best.

Nice list, I pretty much enjoy all of them! I went with Fates Warning's Disconnected this time, one of favorite albums from them, 'Something from Nothing' and 'Still Remains' especially stand out to me here. Mythology Suite (SymX' best in my opinion) and Sceptic's Universe are close 2nds and still on rotation

Hopefully you keep these polls coming, I like just about all of these but Fates Warning beats Porcupine Tree here in my world. Possibly my all time favourite metal record. Iron Maiden's Brave New World is right there too.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
