Well, Spinetta is an old acquaintance of the page. He was the leader of the bands Almendra (proto-prog), Pescado Rabioso, Spinetta y los Socios del Desierto, INVISIBLE, and SPINETTA JADE (the last two are listed on this site under the categories of Symphonic and JR/F, respectively). He has an extensive solo career with (mostly) pop-rock albums, classics of Argentine rock. In 1977, he released A 18' del Sol, a jazz-fusion album with a sound similar to what would later become SPINETTA JADE. The thing is, I strongly believe that el Flaco deserves a page on the site under the "Prog Related" label. I haven’t decided to write the biography yet because it might be a waste of time if it ends up being unanimously rejected, so I’d like to hear the administrators' opinions first.

This guy has been suggested for inclusion as a solo artist twice before:
January 2009: https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=55138. October 2011: https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=82217. The first one led nowhere, but the second time he was evaluated in JR/F, where he had one 'yes', one 'prog related at best', and another for prog related. The team agreed to send Luis Alberto Spinetta to prog related on July 20th 2013, but whether an official proposal by an SC was ever prepared and submitted to the admins of the day I don't know. Since prog related as a category tends to be frowned on somewhat these days, and persuading an SC to prepare a strong case for this guy probably wouldn't be an easy matter to begin with, his only chance for inclusion I feel would be another shot in JR/F by the current team, since he wasn't rejected last time around. It would be interesting to know if a proposal was ever sent to admins back in July 2013, and if so what they made of it. According to the Spinetta Jade biography, Luis Alberto released a total of 16 albums from 1971 up until his death in 2012. Edit: Eduardo beat me to it with the album link, so I've removed the duplicate embed from my post.

I actually would support Luis Alberto Spinetta for Prog Related as I think he is musically relevant and is involved with music in PA.
INVISIBLE is included in our Symphonic Prog category. SPINETTA JADE is included in our JRF categoiry. I voted "YES" for PESCADO RABIOSO in Prog Related in 2023 and so did Ian. We were waiting for Keishiro's vote but due to issues he had to step away, so we can consider that cleared. And I think ALMENDRA has merit. While I see that JRF were set to propose it to PR in 2013, but I don't know what happened. Often such things were handled by Private Message so I don;t see it noted in the admin forum. I would take it to PR if a bio is promised if accepted and adds a paragraph on why this case suits Prog Related. And points to the most relevant music in that, related bands in PA, etc. I brought the case to admin (will want that bio if approved, please). Gets my yes. In December 2009 Spinetta celebrated his 40 years in music with a five-and-a-half-hour concert called "Spinetta y las Bandas Eternas" (Spinetta and The Eternal Bands) in front of 40 thousand fans at Vélez Sarsfield Stadium in Buenos Aires. It was subsequently described as "the greatest gig of the decade" by Argentinian music critics.
Opening song from the gig below. And the full playlist from the performance, all in excellent quality, here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kq3VenNiKZ-ef8UHDRNp64B1FsoAtqj9E. Superb stuff indeed! If that doesn't get him a place in the Archives, in prog related at the very least, then nothing will lol! More info at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Alberto_Spinetta.
