Thanks for the recommendation of Kenso. What a great band! They're listed as Jazz Rock/Fusion here at PA, but they sound more like classic Symphonic Prog to my ears, so I'll add them to the SP listings pronto. Thumbs Up

They're prog-fusion, but since there's no such category on PA, they ended up in JR/F. Their sound is discernibly symphonic, no question. Thumbs Up

My favorites are Kenso III, Sparta, Yume No Oka, Zaiya Live, Esoptron, and Fabulis Mirabilibus, but I love everything they've done.

I'd certainly have my work cut out listing and listening to all of them as there's nearly sixty Japanese Jazz Rock/Fusion artists in total, where the only one I've listened to so far is Stomu Yamashta. Embarrassed

Canterbury Scene Music from Japan  You cannot be Sirius!? Yes, I am serious. It really DOES exist. The Canterbury Scene is alive and well in the land of the rising sun and with greater longevity than De Lorian's motor cars too!  Geek

You might be planning to anyway, but I do hope you share a list in my topic of your very favourite albums from Japan -- the kinds that you not only rated very high here but have stuck with you. Although, listening to as much music as you do, I wonder how much could stick.

I have a great affection for Japanese popular music, but there are literally hundreds and hundreds of albums that I still haven't got around to listening to yet in this thread (but I'm hoping to change that early next year). ASTURIAS     A principality in northern Spain and also the name of the Neo Prog project created by multi-instrumentalist Yoh Ohyama. AIN SOPH      Listed as a Jazz-Rock/Fusion band on PA, Ain Soph cleverly combine the best elements of Canterbury Scene and Symphonic Prog, and they won't get the hump if you compare them with other bands of that ilk, especially bearing in mind their second studio album is titled "Hat and Field" and their first live album is named "Ride on a Camel" (although it's actually more of a musical tribute to Caravan). A Camel Caravan maybe, which turns out to be Ain Soph's best album of all. Check them out if you've got the time, because they've got the 5/4 time - and just about any other time signature you'd care to mention.  Smile

BLACK PAGE     I suspect Black Page may be a blank page to many of us here, having not been around for long, but they're a keyboard-heavy band from Asia who sound not unlike Asia, by strange coincidence. Only Time Will Tell if Black Page gain any recognition outside of their native Japan, but I somehow think they'll remain a closed book to the rest of the world. Confused

CINDERELLA SEARCH     What's this? A Marillion tribute band? Never in a Marillion years! The name of this Neo Prog band may sound strangely familiar to Marillion fans, but they sound nothing like Marillion. Additionally. their lead singer goes through more costume changes onstage than Peter Gabriel, but they sound nothing like Genesis either. No, Cinderella Search have a unique sound all of their own, although (as proggers are wont to do) they've inevitably been compared with many other prog bands. Oh well, if the Neo Prog slipper fits, wear it. Smile
