^Really don´t think vocals in those songs are crap, although Haskell is my least favourite Crimson-vocalists. And anyway they´re one of my favourite Crimson songs, only little weaker song in Lizard is "Lady Of the Dancing Water" (I believe it would have been greater with for example Lake-vocals).

Aw, I wouldn't call them crap. They're def underwhelming, though.

I have heard a version of Cadence and Cascade with Lake on vocals (a demo, I think), and it does sound much better. I guess it would have been the same for Lady of the dancing water.

The songs are not too great either

GG for sure.
Lizard has a couple of crap tunes. Happy family and Indoor games are pretty weak tunes although there’s nice playing in them
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I'm not a big fan of either album, but Lizard wins for featuring a song by Jon Anderson. Smile

I really like both, a great deal.

I've gone with Lizard, which I still regard as my fave KC... but I don't see 3F as the relative disappointment voiced by some

I already responded in depth to this topic years ago but each is a favourite of mine by the bands. I voted for Lizard but really I should have just said both and not voted. This is terrific pairing for me. If I went for favourite duo right now from each, then it would be Gentle Giant's Acquiring the Taste and Three Fiends and King Crimson's Lizard and Red.

And I still get goosebumps just thinking about the eponymous track at the end of the Three Friends album. Glorious.

Me too... it's a real GG highlight which also sends a shiver of delight down my spine, in a similar way to the end of Starless (Red yes, but the USA version paralyses you).

keep persevering Paul, I'd describe both as Connoisseur's albums...

3 Friends by a thin margin, I like both album

Imagine for a moment what the vocals of Lizard would have given with the harmonious gentle giants ( Except PRA sung by Jon)

Easily, Gentle Giant. This is my favorite GG album. It was the first album I bought from them and I love every track. Mister Class and Quality/ Three Friends is one of my favorite highlights in all of Prog.

Never cared much for Lizard. Outside the Wetton era of KC, which I'm a big fan ( Red and Larks are top 25 Prog albums), for me, KC is bit hit and miss.

GG by many miles.

It's interesting to see all the forum members no longer here in this six year old thread. I miss some of them.

Logan, agree with you on the Three Friends track. Just an emotionally moving song. Like you, Acquiring the Taste and Three Friends are my favorite Giant albums. Of course, GG has a very solid discography. The only true miss is Giant for a Day. Even the Missing Piece and Civilian has its moments.

I quite like "Spooky Boogie" off Giant for a Day. Those first eight, the self-titled to Interview, are great. And then there's good live music like Playing the Fool. I was quite obsessed with Gentle Giant when I joined this site.

GG without much thought, I just like it a lot better. I missed this poll the first time around.
