Both released in the early 80's which do you enjoy more?

"Subdivisions' by far. It's one of my favourite Rush songs.

Owner of a Lonely YES album - bearing in mind I didn't buy my second YES album until nearly thirty years later.

Rush obviously. OOALH is way out of the Yes spectrum. I know it was a big hit, and a boost for the band's sales and exposure, but that's all it means to me. Musically, it's to simplistic.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

That'd be me then, bearing in mind the worst YES album is still more appealing to me than the best Rush album, even though I own eight Rush albums.

Subdivisions! My stomach decided to divide itself up into smaller parcels, but the food coming into it doesn't read signs or tackle algebra problems.

Owner is a good song. Subdivisions is a great song which has some of Peart's best lyrics.

As good as Subdivisions is, I prefer Owner of a Lonely Heart.
This isn't really a fair poll, as Owner was obviously written to be an attention-grabbing single, while Subdivisions wasn't. Rush's highest charting single, New World Man, was on the same album, and that might have made a better comparison.

Both have been staples where I live on classic rock stations with plenty of regular airplay so they seem well-matched to me from that perspective.
