I commonly prefer to try to judge by the quality of a specific album and even song than judging a band, especially if it has reasonably diverse discography. To use Swans as example, one might hate Filth but like The Burning World. Now with Deliquescence I am confident that you would largely hate it. And someone might hate King Crimson's Larks' Tongues in Aspic but like In the Court of the Crimson King. I don't think the KC live in this poll would be that anathema to your taste in considerable part. The one I would most consider recommending to you from these lives that you have not mentioned is The Flaming Lips concert. |

^ I like The Flaming Lips too and my favourite song from the four CD albums I own is "Do You Realize??" from Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - and Hear It Is.

I have not heard many live albums lately, but Anna von Hausswolff is excellent.

If I had to choose one album, then it would be Embryonic. And when others were poo-pooing the idea of the Flaming Lips in PA around 2009 and saying it had no place, that was an album that I thought I thought deserved serious consideration. Playing it again now, and love it more than ever. I think it may be rather too experimental for you in large part. I love the Lips Neo-Psych/ Space Rock Revival music. I am into so much music of that ilk. For a chill song off it, I love this: And this track melts in your brain, not in your hands: Such a great band and Embryonic is so good to my ears. Despite any naysayers, was happy to give it a serious evaluation for Prog Related and add it to PA. Edited by Logan - November 02 2024 at 05:58 |
