would've voted for Wobbler, but they are not on the list....so I guess Robert Wyatt and Weather Report.

^ I am glad you asked because an impetus for this series, and a reason why I did not want it just to focus on my choices but instead I decided to ask people to vote for and mention what they like off my list (if applicable) and to mention what their favourites are (to each his or her own tastes and knowledge), is because I wanted to further demonstrate (as if just looking at W for Prog Archives is not enough) how very many choices there are, especially depending on taste and experience. This grew out of a specific comment in another poll I had just read where someone mentioned expecting some band or album in the poll. And that person said something like there are only 25 choices available, why would you expect that? There is so much depth and breadth to great music depending on taste that it surprised me sometimes when people seem to expect certain music and sometimes even seem to get upset when it's not there. A big part of what I want in music forum is about trying to get to understand each others music tastes better, gaining some exposure to the music whether we like it or not, coming to appreciate our differences, and coming together as a community despite our differences. I'm kind of idealistic. I could express this "stream" so much better but my son is waiting for his pancakes -- lol.

I am quite sure I thought about adding that for the "B" List (the not my favourites for this poll list), but then forgot and did not do so. I have heard music by it years ago and I know it has had fans here. thanks |

The Who. They were my favourite band growing up but that changed when I discovered prog rock.

Me too. It is easily my favourite of the albums released under his name, and it is one of the most significant albums to me period. Poignant, sublime, rather ridiculous, bathos and pathos.... Wonderful album. It's a triumph. If it doesn't touch something deep inside, I suspect it may be because you are hollow. |

Scott Walker, Chelsea Wolfe, and Robert Wyatt. What a nice trio that would have made! I unscrewed my circles and spilled iced tea up my nose.

I am quite sure I thought about adding that for the "B" List (the not my favourites for this poll list), but then forgot and did not do so. I have heard music by it years ago and I know it has had fans here. ----------------------- For me from the poll: Weyes Blood would be my clear winner in terms of listening here over the past few years. I adore her music, and it is a rare one in my collection that my wife likes too. I hope she comes back to Vancouver for a concert. Or, since my wife frequently travels to California for work, I might get a chance to see her in her native state. Robert Wyatt: I don't listen to Wyatt as much as I did years ago, but I still love so much of his music and music he was involved in, and I still that Rock Bottom is a truly remarkable album and a masterpiece. Igor Wakhévitch: I love this modern classical, electronic and psychedelic artist. If going six, then Waldron (I adore the collaborative album The Call), Wire and Wolfe would also get votes today. Oh, I will give Wire another vote. Been listening to Wire a fair amount of late, in fact the most of any of these recently other than Weyes Blood. |
