Hello! On the recommendation of Greg Cummins from DPRP, I would like to submit my latest release, Across the Light, for consideration to be added into the Database. Here is the requested information:
Bio: Paul Lesinski is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Portland, Oregon in the United States. With a career spanning almost four decades - through his original music and fronting the Pink Floyd tribute band he co-founded 27 years ago, called Floydian Slips - Paul has established himself as a mainstay of the Pacific Northwest music scene. Paul’s music is a fusion of genres, blending the power of progressive and classic rock. Lyrically, Paul reflects the voices of his audience, whether reveling in being the best version of yourself, to lamenting the fractured state of political and social connection driven by social media silos. “Across the Light” is Paul’s fourth full-length album. Recorded with his long-time musical partners David Kendall (drums, vocals) and Mike Budd (bass), Across the Light is direct and visceral, exploring themes of self-reflection, societal challenges, personal struggles, and the desire for change. There is a sense of urgency and determination in the songs, with a focus on taking action and making a difference. The lyrics also touch upon themes of love, forgiveness, and the passage of time evoking a sense of emotional depth and a call to embrace one’s true self and seize the moment. Musically, the 10-track release is Paul’s most “progressive” album, with two eight-plus-minute epics (Your Last Song, and the title track, Across the Light), an upbeat guitar-based instrumental and songs boasting several ethereal, extended musical passages. This is offset by the shorter tracks Show Me and Right Day, and the acoustic based Be Better Be Bold and October Wind.
For evaluation, I suggest these tracks:

A very well-presented submission I must say, and having listened to the latest album 'Across the Light' I am certainly happy to take this to the Crossover team for evaluation, with my 'yes'.
You can follow the evaluation here: https://awesomeprog.com/artists/24543 ('PA Charts' tab). Edit: Although you have specifically singled out just your latest release to be added to the site, if cleared by the team your entire discography will be included on the eventual page that is created here. All the releases are tagged as either 'Prog Rock' or 'Prog Alt Rock' on Awesome Prog via the Amazon, Bandcamp or Spotify links that I added to that site.

You are now added to Crossover Prog, and we have added all your releases to your page. Could you possibly supply a list of the musicians who performed on your debut album 'A Fear of Flashing Light'? There is no musicians info included for this particular album on Bandcamp at the moment.
Thanks! Edit: Was this (or any other of your albums) available as a commercial factory-pressed CD, or were the albums just burnt as a CD-R on demand? Thanks again.

Fantastic and thank you! RE Fear of Flashing Light musicians, that album was less consistent in terms of players so do you want the specific players who played on each song, or just one list of everyone who was on it regardless of the song?
And yes all of my albums had actual physical CDs created (with associated bar codes, artwork etc) so I could get them to people via post and at gigs, but also into local music stores, etc. Fear of Flashing Light and Hearts and Reason are currently out of print but I still have physical copies of the other three.

We usually list the line-up and then guests & session musicians (if we know what songs they play on, that's even better).

@Paul Lesinski: As an example, the way you present the musicians info on your 'Hearts & Reason' album is exactly the way we like to include it on all our Progarchives album pages (with some slight differences in formatting). Core members of the band listed first, followed by a separate list of any guests or session musicians with the instruments that they played on the various tracks.
So, on Bandcamp for the 'Hearts & Reason' album you have: Paul Lesinski - vocals, guitars, keyboards Mike Budd - bass David Kendall - drums, vocals with: Asher Fulero - synth solo on Silver, piano on Safe, Hammond on Life in the City Sean Nobel Flannery - saxophone on Safe Mike Walker - Hammond on Hearts Gone Blind And our version looks like this: Line-up / Musicians - Paul Lesinski / vocals, guitars, keyboards - Mike Budd / bass - David Kendall / drums, vocals With: - Asher Fulero / synth solo (1), piano (6), Hammond organ (7) - Sean Nobel Flannery / saxophone (6) - Mike Walker / Hammond organ (8) If you could give us something along those lines for 'A Fear of Flashing Light', then that would be great. |

Hi this is Paul - I had to create a second alias because the forum would not accept my password all of a sudden starting on 9/10/2024 nor send anything to my email ([email protected]) when i tried to re-set the password. I also submitted a message through the "contact us" form explaining the problem and have yet to hear back. So I did the only thing I could think of which was to create another alias from scratch to be able to post here. Can someone help me recover my original account/alias/entity? Then I can finally reply with the requested information regarding my music and also participate in the forum. I will watch here for replies but if you need to reach me outside of the forum, please email [email protected]. Thank you.

Okay, I sent you a new password by PM (private message) to PLesinski2 .
Please respond in this topic using Paul Lesinski when you get the chance and I will deactivate the newer account when I can. I prefer to deal with stuff in-forum and tend not to use emails with this site. {EDIT: In case one doesn't know, one won't see responses to topics if one just keeps them open or see that one got PMs then, you have to click on topics or refresh pages....) For some reason that new password you emailed me is also not working. Trying it in Chrome and Safari... My user name should be "Paul Lesinski," right?

^ Great.
Not sure how you're sending it across, but his thread would be good to post it in. And then PM yam yam at this forum if there's other stuff like download links or things you would want to be more discrete with. Sending this site emails is not as effective I feel, but then I never get that stuff. |
