Fireballet - Night on Bald Mountain Often considered to be one of the great US prog albums of the 70s (the cover on my cd copy actually says "fantastic US progressive rock album from 1975."). It was produced by Ian McDonald (King Crimson).

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Exceptional album I acquired during the summer of 1975. At that time, a belgian family weekly * magazine (TV programms, practical ans social life topics, leisures, etc...) published 2 or 3 double pages devoted to rock ( LP and gigs reviews, concert announcements , top 10,... short news picked mainly from the UK weekly MM and NME magazines. In 1975, the editor reviewed NoaBM , the critic was more than enthusiastic... A few weeks later, I bought the album from a local record store specializing in imports.... it had cost me 45 Euros at the time ... a fortune that had exhausted my small budget for summer holidays, but I was so delighted ....Although worn, it is still in my current collection like a relic of a bygone era. * "Télémoustique" The french-speaking** belgian readers of my age must have also waited for the weekly pen of this rock columnist who brought to Belgium band like Genesis in 1971, VDGG , etc... ** "Humo" was its flemish equivalent with other columnists and slightly different rock affinities. NoaBM successor (and band' last work) was musically a cruel disappointment ... not counting on the ridiculous cover-art I read once that the keyboardist recorded a few unsuccessful LPs/CDs, sound material that I never acquired or listened to, and that Fireballet ' original guitarist collaborated with Nektar around 2019, however i don't know more. Fav tracks : Night on a bald mountain (adaptation of Debussy's piano opus called Engulfed cathedral is awesome) Atmospheres Les cathédrales Edited by mellotronwave - September 13 2024 at 16:01 |
