Sunset Park is a New York-based progressive jazz/rock fusion band comprised of: Eiki Matsumoto (bass), composer and producer; Andy Didorenko (violin), leader of the contemporary rock fusion ensemble Lost World Band; Kenny Grohowski (drums), tour member of Brand X and member of several of John Zorn's projects; Shinkuro Matsuura (guitar), tour member of Robert Fripp's League of Crafty Guitarists and leader of Shinkuro, an Osaka-based prog-funk band. The band was formed by Eiki Matsumoto who began composing songs after finding himself stuck in Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He soon enlisted Shinkuro Matsuura to join the effort, and they began performing gigs with local musicians and laying down the basic tracks of the album in the fall of 2022. Eiki then called on Kenny Grohowski and Andy Didorenko to complete the quartet, and Sunset Park was born. Their debut album, "The Night of the Lunar Eclipse", was released in October 2023.

Sunset Park sounds like an exciting addition to the jazz/rock fusion genre! With their diverse backgrounds and fresh compositions, "The Night of the Lunar Eclipse" promises to be an engaging listen. I can't wait to explore their music on Bandcamp and YouTube. Thanks for sharing! Jazz has always intrigued me with its improvisational nature, and I read about it https://www.topessaywriting.org/samples/jazz here, it beautifully captures its essence. It traces the genre’s roots from New Orleans to its influence on modern music. The discussion on the evolution of jazz, from swing to bebop, kept me engaged throughout. Whether you're a musician or just a fan of the genre, this essay provides a deep dive into what makes jazz so unique and influential in music history.

The same Eiki Matsumoto formerly of Braindance!? Wow, I wondered what had ever happened to the guy. Now I know!
