TFTO. Howe's Turbulence is a nice listen, too. A peanut coast of incoherent mud flaps.

Yes. Tales sometimes is not quite appreciated, and it took me a long time to fully realize how good this double album is, but once I got it, it became one of my all time favorites.

I was surprised at how taken I was with Tales From Topographic Oceans when I listened to it not that long ago, took me on a trip indeed, and so it gets my vote despite my not having listened to any of the other albums in the poll. I know I could follow the links, but I don't feel like listening to any music right now.

I went against the tide again by voting for the less obvious Turbulence by Steve Howe, followed by the Peter Banks Anthology, but Topographic Oceans still remains my favourite YES album that I haven't yet managed to add to my CD collection. Smile

Since my views of TFTO are very similar to Rick Wakeman's, I have voted for Turbulence in this poll. It's still a good album after all these years, despite having very little of Steve's acoustic playing and for being very influenced (production-wise) by all of the instrumental "guitar hero" albums that were being released at the same general time.

I can't believe that TFTO is only four stars!!

I consider it to be a MASTERWORK of prog composition and performance!!

As I like to say, "I don't listen to TFTO, I study it!!"

Squire uses a fretless Guild bass guitar with plectrum to emulate the sound of a concert timpani.....!!

That is a technique that I borrowed (i.e. stole) for my own music!!  Someday I'll post something.  I'm too busy right now trying to stop the corporations from RAPING THE FORESTS.
I am not a Robot, I'm a FREE MAN!!

Rick Wakeman. I'll probably vote for Rick in the next poll as well although that will be a tougher one for me. Never been a great fan of TFTO but enjoyed Ritual when they played it live. For me it doesn't have a great 'feel' to it. I find it harsh sounding and lacking the dynamics of Relayer and earlier albums. Alan White was still bedding in and it seems he is just counting time. On Relayer he is an absolute animal and that's how I like him!
