It seems that I neglected this topic before (unless I made a mistake). I used to listen to King Crimson quite a lot around the time I joined this site, and then for years it became on and off, and recently I've come back to KC in a big way. It's a band I have really liked since I first got to know it quite well in the early 2000s, and now appreciate more than ever.
This order today (did top seven for the first seven classic albums, but of course one would just add my top five to the tally). 1. "Lizard" 2. "Starless" 3. "Islands" 4. "In the Wake of Poseidon" 5. "Epitaph" 6. "Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part One" 7. "Starless and Bible Black" |

Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson is known for being a bit prickly at times and his first reaction upon hearing Robert Fripp's unique style of guitar-playing for the first time was,
"You're playing all the wrong notes, mate!" - just like Eric Morecambe with Andre Preview in the video below. Edited by Psychedelic Paul - August 14 2024 at 03:54 |

Personally I lost interest in KC after Greg Lake shuffled off to be one third of that obscure band ELP. There's just something magical about their debut and sophomore albums.

Same here. King Crimson's first two albums are the only two KC albums I really enjoy. They're the tasty haute cuisine compared to every subsequent King Crimson album which are about as appealing to me as Catfood - at least to my untrained ears anyway.

They never seemed to have a steady line-up - it was usually Bob Fripp + whoever else was available.
