Keyboard legend Geoff Downes is one of the busiest keyboard players on the entire planet, aside from Rick Wakeman, obviously. In fact, the number of bands and album projects Geoff Downes has been involved with over the years just Buggles the mind. When he's not touring Asia with YES, he's touring Europe with ASIA, and as if that's not enough to keep any musician fully occupied, he's also one half of the Wetton-Downes partnership as well as being one half of the Downes Braide Association, on top of which Geoff Downes has made numerous guest appearances on other albums too. All in all then, his professional life has been filled with mostly Ups and hardly any Downes. Regarding his personal life, Geoff Downes is a supporter of Cardiff City, but you can't have everything in life. Tongue

ASIA     A Prog-Rock supergroup with the original line-up featuring prog legends John Wetton, Steve Howe, Geoff Downes & Carl Palmer. Asia were formed from the apparent break-up of three other prog bands, namely, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, King Crimson and YES, although none of the three bands ever really broke up - they just took a long extended break on the tropical island of Hiatus. Tongue

THE BUGGLES       Fed up with producing untalented punk idiots with band names such as the Unwanted, the Unwashed and the Unheard, Trevor Horn decided The Buggles would be a great name for his own Synth-Pop band (although he's since regretted the choice of name) in partnership with premier league keyboardist Geoff Downes. Their first single "Video Killed the Radio Star" made it all the way to number one, as well as being the first video ever to be played on MTV in 1981. The Buggles broke up following poor sales of their sophomore album, but more Drama was just around the corner when Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes both became unexpected members of YES! Shocked

Geoff Downes collaboration with Alan White is pretty good too. Thumbs Up

I still haven't heard four of Geoff Downes' solo albums though, mainly because I've never been able to find them on YouTube. Confused

The superb opening track from The Light Program (Or BBC Radio 2 as we now call it in England, for those of us old enough to remember Jimmy Young). Tongue

A classic electronic symph (no vocals, hooray) recording from the good old days when keyboard players in well-known bands outside Tangerine Dream, like Eddie Jobson and Pete Bardens, surprised us with their contributions to the genre. I've owned multiple versions of it, with my "keeper" being the Voiceprint reissue.
