Neil Young : On the beach
with: Lou Reed - Lou Reed Live (1975) and Rock'n roll animal (1974) (The other part of the same gig at The Howard Stein's Academy of music NY) Todd Rundgren - Initiation The single LP featuring the longest recorded music.... in my opinion this must be a record in the rock music genre (near 68 minutes) Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska (1982) |

Todd's Initiation is one of his best albums of the '70s.

Meant to respond earlier... Tim Buckley's Starsailor. I actually do not know much here, but I'm a pretty big Buckley guy and am happy to have that album to give my vote..

With Glenn Frey and Don Henley's five-album run ended, I have a spare empty slot to fill in the 7th poll if anyone has any suggestions.

I guess these are classic artists, otherwise I would go with Sufjan Stevens (from the US) who has like 20 albums, whose first album came out in 2000 and latest came out in 2023. For a classic, definitely Scott Walker (was he in this before?) Edit: I forgot that Walker became a UK citizen in 1970. Never mind. I suggest Tom Waits (first album came out in 1973).

I'm unfamiliar with Sufjan Stevens and I didn't realise until now that Scott Walker was American, but I'll be happy to add him to the next poll in the series, which'll be just in time for Scott's seventh album: The Moviegoer (1972). Scott Walker was featured in one of my polls before - Solo British Prog Artists - but not in this series of polls.

I made some edits to the above. Walker moved to the UK and became a UK citizen in 1970. Tom Waits would be one to consider.

Okay, I've narrowed it down to two big name additions:-
Either...
The Godfather of Soul, James Brown or... The King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley |

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
