ELDERBERRY JAK The year 1970 may be Long Overdue for a debut Psychedelic Rock album, but way back then, over half a century ago, black & white TV's were more commonplace than colour, home computers hadn't even been conceived of yet, and the only place you'd see a mobile phone was on Star Trek! Elderberry Jak is notable for featuring Joe Cerisano - the finest rock singer no one's ever heard of - who you may recall was the lead vocalist on Blue Oyster Cult's "Frankenstein" from their rip-roaring Imaginos album. ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - June 13 2024 at 11:27 |

ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN The spirit of Herman Munster lives on! Not to be confused with the punk revival band of the same name - and why would anyone want to revive punk anyway? ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - June 15 2024 at 05:59 |

ELIZABETH Quite possibly the most obscure artist on the Vanguard label, which included such notable names as Joan Baez, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Country Joe & the Fish. Jug band Elizabeth performed with many musical luminaries of the era, including Cream, Blue Cheer, Joni Mitchell, Richie Havens and the Chambers Brothers amongst others. Elizabeth also had connections with Mandrake Memorial and Todd Rundgren, who once auditioned to play guitar with the band but had bigger fish to fry with the Nazz, and later Utopia, where he wasn't just a Wizard, but a True Star. ![]() ![]() |

ELMIRA Not Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, but Elmira, Lady of the Mountain, a rough-edged Danish psych album that sounds like it was recorded in the back of someone's garage in Copenhagen by a band who've never seen the inside of a recording studio. ![]() |

THE END This is The End, Beautiful Friend, This is The End, My Only Friend, The End.... If you open The Doors of Perception slightly ajar, you'll discover The End, a short-lived British band who arose from the glowing embers of the Tuxedos, the Innocents and the Original Tropics. Although The End only recorded one album "Introspection" (1968-1969) during their brief lunchtime in the spotlight, three further archival albums were later unearthed:- "In the Beginning" (1964-1967); "Retrospection" (1968-1969); & finally "The Last Word" (1969-1970), although that wasn't really the end of The End, as they long outlasted Jim Morrison & The Doors by reinventing themselves as Tucky Buzzard, proving once again that you can't keep a good band down. ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 28 2024 at 16:12 |

EUCLID A Psychedelic Rock band on the Flying Dutchman label, although Euclid are 100% American. It doesn't take a mathematical genius to know that Heavy Equipment adds up to a damn fine album, especially bearing in mind the original vinyl album now sells for upwards of £300, or alternatively, if you've got deep pockets but short arms, you can pick up the CD album from Amazon for a mere snip at £43. And so, with all that said, it's time to settle back and experience some Rock & Roll Heaven as we go Behind the Music. ![]() ![]() |

THE FACEDANCERS Facedancers by name, Facedancers by nature..... Not much is known about The Facedancers, other than knowing they're named after the shapeshifting aliens in Frank Herbert's Dune series. One thing that is known about this obscure band though is that their one and only precious relic is well-worth adding to your psych collection, but if you're hoping to pick up this ultra-rare gem for any less than £250, then Dream On. ![]() |
