I have rectified the issue of Patti Smith's Horses having no votes.  Terrific album.  I could have gone with Joan Baez. Love Blondie too.

I love female singer-musicians-composers and I hope it's not seen as rude doing my own in the wake of this one's revival (won't be nation based methinks).  I discovered a new to me one recently that I have wanted to share in a poll. By the way, I was introduced to Sarah McLachlan back in maybe 1990. Brother was friends with her.

It's nice to know I've inspired you to create your own series of singer/songwriter polls (which I'm looking forward to taking part in) and I'm a fan of Sarah McLachlan too, with almost all of her albums in my CD collection (mainly because they tend to turn up a lot at charity shops and car boot sales). Smile

I've always loved that first Pretenders album. I used to have a real crush on Chrissie Hynde. Tongue

Maybe two male ones and two female ones.  I was doing a female list and stopped at about 40, all of whom have favourite albums of mine (not including bands).  I then thought I should highlight the contemporary ones with albums releases that I have really loved since 2010, and so the same with males (for artist/singers that number dwindles in my collection for modern ones).  So there will be lots of little  known to PA music.

Tracy Chapman. Great album and one of the best of the 80s.

In the absence of Judy Sill's self-titled debut from 1971, I'll have to vote for Melanie.

Madonna's very first recording from 1980 as part of the New Wave band Emmy (Madonna's nickname at the time) and sounding like a cross between Chrissie Hynde and Debbie Harry. Smile
