Achim Reichel is one of the key figures featured in the film. He stands as a pivotal figure in the Krautrock movement. His band, A.R. and the Machines, set a high standard with their mesmerizing space-echo guitar techniques. Initially, he was the founder and guitarist of THE RATTLERS, the most popular Beat band in 60s Germany. However, Reichel soon found the repetitive 4/4 beat unsatisfying and was looking for a more challenging musical expression. 


Reichel's signature guitar echo effects, discovered entirely by accident, became his hallmark. "I was just experimenting with my guitar when suddenly the Akai X-3300 began producing endless cascades of echoes," he explained. Starting with his 1971 album "The Green Journey," Reichel crafted an expansive, alternate universe. This world was so immersive that listeners felt a stark reconnection with reality at the album's conclusion, a testament to his profound and far-reaching musical vision. Achim Reichel's contributions to music deserve nothing but admiration.

SYNOPSIS: Romantic Warriors IV: Krautrock 3 (2024) explores Berlin's rebellious music scene (1968-1971), focusing on bands and musicians like Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Agitation Free, Günther Schickert and venues like the Zodiak, as well as key innovative bands from Hamburg and Munich. 

It includes Achim Reichel of the Hamburg scene, known for his work with The Rattles and A.R. & Machines, who was among the first who pioneered the ECHO Guitar technique, drawing parallels to Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream. 

Tangerine Dream's significant contributions to electronica and their adoption of digital technology are detailed by Jerome Froese and Johannes Schmoelling. 

Klaus Schulze's evolution from Tangerine Dream to a solo digital artist is also featured. 

Günther Schickert discusses his early days in Berlin's music scene and his innovative use of the ECHO guitar. 

Agitation Free, known for their psychedelic Krautrock, is represented by Lutz Ulrich and Michael Hoenig, who speak about their experimental sound mixing with ethnic music influences. Michael also examines the impact of his solo/collaboration albums on the scene and his Hollywood career. 

The Cosmic Jokers' LSD-influenced performances are highlighted by Harald Grosskopf, along with his Cult album Synthesist. 

Embryo's fusion of world music with Krautrock and their influence on the world music genre is introduced by founder Chris Burchard and his daughter Marja. 

Finally, the documentary covers the English progressive rock band Nektar, featuring insights from Roy Albrighton, Derek “Mo” Moore, and Ron Howden*on their success in Germany and the USA and their influence on the progressive rock genre. 

The documentary weaves these narratives to showcase the lasting legacy of the Krautrock era in shaping diverse music styles and artists well into the 1970s and beyond.

Hi,

I wish I could see the first two ... I talk a lot about "krautrock" ... and the only thing I would like to state is that this was not just a music thing, and I find it sad that the other monsters of the whole scene are not included. 

Wim Wenders and Werner Herzog are not getting younger, and they filmed krautrock, and were involved with many of the folks in it. 

I suppose that someone is going to try and make me feel guilty for saying so ... but the whole thing not having "the soul" that came with it, in the social/philosophical and specially the artistic areas ... can not be missing, otherwise it is just a show with someone talking to some names.

Let me go home and draw some tears, since it wouldn't matter for all of you if one person liked this or not. I've wanted to add to these things ... as the "rock music" alone is meaningless without the "source" or what I call "the soul" ... but I'm just an old hippie that no one cares about speaking about krautART from the moon, and even here on PA, many times, it is like ... that guy is nuts!

Best of luck ... but at the very least, I know what the whole thing gave me and my heart ...

Werner did one of the very first AD2 films, as well ... and sadly, we have ignored Wim Wenders ... I guess that krautrockers don't like too many movies ... Herzog, often is easier due to the visuals, as Wenders is often too wordy, but still ... there is probably just as much "krautrock" in Wenders as there is in Herzog ... but I'm not sure that we can make out how "krautrock" is not just in some rock music. Disrespecting the arts along the way, because rock fans don't like art ... it interferes with their "songs"!!!! ????????Wink  Embarrassed

So sorry ... could not locate these and could not even tell where they would be since there are many of these in more than one location.

Weird that you are trying to promote the 3rd part, but you don't make the other two more "VISIBLE" to get more attention ... oh well .. .maybe I expected too much but at 73, searching from here to the moon for anything is a bit difficult and sometimes a lost cause. Sorry!

Embryo, a German band that started in 1969, is a big deal in the Krautrock scene. Music buff Alan Freeman even calls them one of the key players in the genre. They’re known for mixing jazz, rock, and world music in some really cool ways. RIP CHRISTIAN BURCHARD.

THIS CLIP: Hans-Joachim Roedelius, a key pioneer of Krautrock, started the band Kluster in 1969 with Conrad Schnitzler and Dieter Moebius. Kluster, a pivotal group from the early days of the Krautrock movement, later evolved into Cluster after Roedelius and Moebius split from Schnitzler. Cluster's influential mid-period albums, like "Zuckerzeit" and "Sowiesoso," were instrumental in shaping electro-pop. Additionally, Roedelius's collaboration with Neu! guitarist Michael Rother in Harmonia produced a softer, cosmic sound that influenced Brian Eno's ambient music explorations.
