Le Orme-Collage -a wonderful and pivotal album in Italian progressive rock music. Brilliant.

Terra in Bocca and Collage are imho really innovative and visionary albums for their time. Before '72-'73, outside of the US, UK and maybe West Germany most "progressive rock" music still sounded quite primitive, as the genre's sound wasn't yet codified.

The first vote for The Trip, who I didn't realise were Italian until yesterday, although the album title should have been a big clue.

I forgot to include the best Italian album of all.
BLUE PHANTOM Magnifico! Blazing a trail through Italy in the style of Iron Butterfly, the astounding sounds and amazing music of Blue Phantom have the Unconscious Power to enthral and delight the listener with the ultimate Soul Experience. Blue Phantom are quite simply the best Italian psych band on the World Wide Web - and that's the truth with no Distortions or alternative facts. In-a-Gadda-da-Vida, indeed! 1971: Blue Phantom - Distortions - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QGlOeNKnHA |

The rest (except for New Trolls, who are awful) are all kind of charming, but quite patchy and completely non-essential to me. |

I'll give Le Orme's debut prog album another listen, seeing as it's currently leading the poll by a wide margin.

Le Orme out of these.
Osanna and New Trolls are also very good.

Hi,
Has to be Le Orme for me from this list ... but but but but Franco Battiato, New Trolls and Osanna get left behind ... and Osanna is the group that taught Peter Gabriel to start using costumes to color the music. Franco is far out, but way too out there for him to be appreciated by rock fans ... New Trolls were neat, and I always thought that it was a nice satire on the lot of classical music folks that made the rounds of many colleges, playing all kinds of stuff, and ignoring some rock folks that were doing WAYYYYYYY BETTERRRRRR!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

^The Battiato-album in the poll is a wonderful mess. I suppose I love that one as well, but I never actually bought it. I only actually own Sulle Corde Di Aries (which is a favorite).

Battiato - I like it when it is a bit messy... Don't think I ever heard Panna Fredda or The Trip. The others are fine, but never got much of my attention; and I always had a problem with Le Orme's vocalist...

Nice poll and selection!
Le Orme's Collage is awesome, but I´ll give some love to New Trolls. Osanna is another favorite here. |

If I'm not wrong Ritchie Blackmore has been with The Trip for a short period before their first album.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution
