Magic Pie Start with their first one motions of desire. I'll post more when I think of them.

How about Hybris from Anglagard? That one's wonderful. Now, you already mentioned you didn't like Porcupine Tree, and I guess Steven Wilson goes included in the package, but have you particularly heard The Raven that Refused to Sing? That one sounds very much like classic prog. Also, have you heard some Rock Progresivo Italiano? There are many gems within that sub-genre that would be worth checking out. I would particularly think about Banco del Mutuo Socorsso (Darwin to begin with, perhaps).

You need some Anathema in your life the last 4 especially but virtually anything from 1999's Judgement is worth a try. They are doom metal, post rock, spiritual and alternative all rolled into one.

I would like to recommend London's five-piece female-fronted sympho-rock combo, The Far Meadow. If you are looking for something fresh and bracing yet intricate, then checking out this band is ideal. They released three full-length albums, which are all beautiful and powerful. It is definitely must-have stuff for fans of contemporary symphonic rock. The albums are available on Bandcamp.
