Ah yes, 'Spirit in the Sky', not really a Christian song, one of those annoying vaguely spiritual songs of the 70s.
I'll vote Genesis, greedy televangelists are a pet peeve of mine. |

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

From the poll, I voted for XTC.
I've been listening to Negativland's 2014 album, It's All In Your Head, which examines humanity and religion. But also their 1987 track, Christianity Is Stupid. |

ZZ Top - Jesus Just Left Chicago
Outside the poll I have to mention Tom Waits - Chocolate Jesus (Beth Hart / Joe Bonamassa version is very good, too). Also Type O Negative - Christian Woman, good blasphemous fun.

Nice list! There are two that I don't know and the rest is quite enjoyable to very good, to my ears. I'd especially favour XTC and Greatful Dead; I'll vote for Blues For Allah. And, I cannot not propose this track by King Missile, Jesus Was Way Cool: |

While Depeche Mode wrote Personal Jesus as how one individual can be a 'Jesus' to another, the religious Cash interpreted it as a gospel song.

Jethro Tull, XTC not far behind. The Kansas song is also good. Porcupine Tree's Halo would've snatched my vote had it been in the poll.

Powerful song, lots of emotion late but my favourite song by them is the title track on "Saviour Machine II" and it's impossible for me to get through it without feeling a lot of emotion. Thanks for bringing this band up it's been a long time, going to spin that song later. |
