When I read biographies, I tend to daydream about doing my own thing in that field.. Biography on a musician, or a director. Watching a great movie will exponentially activate my imagination (which never seems to stop) as well, and although I could simply imagine all the great stuff, and I do, I try to envision conflicts to make it seem more real. I'll do some reading, pause, daydream, and go back to the book for more inspiration.

Daydream as in re-living a beautiful moment in the past. It's like entering a different zone and not acknowledging the present.

In the present are videos of my family on YouTube that are embarrassing and degrading...and that I did not put there. In a daydream all of that useless dribble disappears.

In my daydreaming I recall my best friend Cathy who I knew as a child and a teenager. She visited me a week before she died in her sleep. I had not seen her since we were in our teens. She came to say goodbye.

When I daydream she is by my side running through fields with those strange people we knew as a cult. Somehow our friendship ruled over everything. It's memories are innocent and our meeting in this life is timeless . It's part of the past...but in daydreaming it feels relevant as the present.

In daydreaming I am taken back to childhood footsteps through the hills of West Virginia and the games we played in the woods and under an open sky.

^ Mmm, yes, I can see daydreaming about scarce liquors.   Lately for me it's been Calvados.

I am not a Calvados expert, nor even an 'apple brandy' one, but of what I've bought online, these were very nice --

Hi,

I have such an active dreaming world that I live in and write from ... many of the poems and stories come from the dreams and how they sequence from one day to the next, which is far out in my view of it all. The far out side of it, is when things stop one night, it's like they work themselves out on their own the next night. Uncanny moments and continuations.

Daydreaming does not last long for me, and I tend to not pay attention to it ... but I do have some interesting moments when I see things around someone one, and I might say this or that ... and sure enough, soon enough ... there it is!

However, being a writer, sometimes these seem to blur each other ... for example, I will be sitting reading something, and a thread enters my mind, and I get up to the computer and start writing, and it becomes a part of that one novel I've been writing for a couple of years (have 5 of them going!!!) ... sort of like there was a continuity thing in there, and all of a sudden, there is the answer. Two of these are almost finished, and I have no idea what to do with them! I'm not shy about the writing, but this time it is a combination of a lot of things, and it has sex, just as much as it does poetry ... it's like it's the same for me! A bit weird but there it is!

One of these, is a work on various musicians I have had contact with, and some of their words and comments, some of which came from real moments and some that came from my dreams, and moments experiencing their music on earphones or otherwise. This one, I am not sure I will ever let out before I pass away ... some folks are not going to like it, to hear at least one of them get upset over the fans telling them what to do!

For alcohol drinkers above, I recommend the Hungarian bitter, Unicom.

As for dreams, I try and suppress them with a lot of smoke before bed.

While I think it important to try to live in the moment, I often find myself in [my perception of] the past. And then I almost feel like if I could hold onto it, I'd get back there. I don't really believe that I could, but in those moments it feels almost possible.

Sometimes I daydream about my first wife ( RIP) who was born to a family of witches. I was unaware of this when we married. Imo..we were too young to take life seriously. I was 18 and she was 15.

Her and I listened to music together. We listened to Van Der Graaf Generator, GONG, Hawkwind, Guru Guru, Popol Vuh, Daevid Allen, Anthony Phillips, Hatfield and the North, Robert Wyatt everyday in our house.

For a while she traveled with me and ran the light show for our band. She somehow got involved with a cult. The same cult that was interrogated by detectives for the ritual sacrifice of Mike Newell at Menantico Ponds. Although he clearly wanted to die this way...Police and witnesses thought that he was cultivated/trained to do it.

My first wife became involved with this cult and experienced ritual abuse. She was in and out of Ancora Psychiatric Hospital for years until eventually she took her own life.

She seemed to have multiple personalities. She loved Daevid Allen and Robert Calvert lyrics. She was really interesting that way. Sometimes I daydream about our experiences together. Like holding hands and running through the fields.

The people around us were into Black magic or i call dark magic...however they also believed in Jesus. They worshipped God in the day and Satan in the night. It was all about dualism. They acted like they had multiple personalities. Certainly my wife did at times. She tried to stick with Christianity , but she wasn't able to follow one belief system. Sometimes I daydream about the time we spent together. Memories of our life experiences. It's difficult for me to believe that she's dead.

I have stopped to daydream since 2017, as a pensionado on a tropical island, now playing guitar, making pictures in nature from hummingbirds, snorkling between octopusses, turtles and rays, visit fish restaurants on the beaches with my wife, and listen to prog in the late evening, or watch in on YouTube, ajo, paso bon, biba dushi!

Hi,

Interesting comment.

I, personally, do not differentiate between the everyday stuff and the dreaming, from which I write so much. I have always thought that when the reality of the day matches the reality of the night (dreaming!) you will find that your perception is very strong and it allows for a lot of "creative" doings, regardless of what they could be.

A lot of my "understanding" of theater and film, in its experimental forms, is probably one reason why I feel that way ... as I find that the "freedom" to "fly" is much more important than believing in a book, or someone else to help you find your path in life. No one can find a path in their life without the internal adventure, even though we might think so when some "stars" talk about all kinds of things.

Inside, of my internal work, there is no past, present or future ... everything is just as it is and the funny comment we joke about that "time is an illusion" is very true all of a sudden ... I have, inside, time travelled, but it always feels like I'm on the outside looking in, as it might be something that is not for me ... but travelling through space/universe, is ... interesting, and only difficult if by some reason the alarm clock goes off and you have a sudden wake up call ... for anything ... the resulting headache from it won't go away for several hours and it often takes some meditation to finally stop it.

There really is not a theme, or idea, of what I dream about ... but they generally formulate themselves into some kind of endless movie, and the story continues, although in some cases they involve some things I like and have enjoyed ... for example, one of the stories I STILL have to write down, is about a tennis player from the age of 15 or so all the way to about 35/40 ... and in the story she became a special player, had to stop playing for various reasons (she wanted independence!) and eventually coaching a team from nowhere to national heights and one day ... it all ended with a stroke, on what would be her greatest achievement. I didn't invent a single moment of it, and it came together over a period of about 6 or 7 nights in continuity ...

All in all, I would say I do not "daydream" or have flighty ideas about that woman with the ______ or that car over there, or silly thoughts ... I see enough of "their colors" that it cuts through the "daydream" side of things altogether.

^ Quite often it has felt like, to quote Poe, all that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.

Hi,

My thoughts are how we can define/decide that daydreams and night dreaming are not "live" or in the moment? It's still the same person and a part of their body! I'm not sure we can separate the two and remain in one piece. Most of us live with the fallacy created by many churches that do not allow, or believe that ... "the father and I are one" ... which basically says that everything you see inside is just as valuable and important as what you see the rest of the day ... somewhere along the ages, we lost sight of what was said, and what it meant, in the first place!

I visualize/daydream about the next day's tasks.  My interactions with my patients, school work, yoga, weight workouts, and gardening.  Such daydreams bring order to my day.   Boring...right?   I also daydream about future vacations and dates with my hubby.Wink
