I like to get a ' festive Winter season' music event or two in during December

Johnny Copin and Dik Cadbury both ex- Decameron and Dik being ex-Steve Hackett band (1979-1981); very festive, a bit folky.. maybe the smallest hint of cheese but, hey, i'm not adverse to a bit of matured dairy produceWink

Only if you buy into that 5h!t (tee, hee, see what I did there).
We set very (small c) conservative limits on spending. That makes it a little more about creative thinking and possibly personalizing the gifts. One year I gave my bro-in-law a special blend of coffee that I came up with and I gave my nephew a small jar of a coated chicken spice additive I created (Uncle John's Awesome Shakie Bakie Booster). It was the hit of the family.

My family starts celebrating Christmas immediately after Thanksgiving.  We decorate the Christmas tree and put out the rest of the decorations.  We do not celebrate Black Friday.  It's a family tradition minus the consumerism.  I cook holiday dishes and bake cookies and pies.  Gift neighbors and co-workers the goodies.  It makes me happy,  it makes them happy, so I carry on.  Spread the cheer. Wink

I'm not a big Christmas fan but I'd say anytime after Thanksgiving is ok.

I've come to the conclusion ALL holidays should be every 2 years because years seem more like 6 months these days but i'm down with leap year Christmases!

I like a lot of things about Christmas and always look forward to the December-month. Small social gatherings, wishing each other Merry Christmas, keeping ,more or less informal traditions alive with our friends - and our families... But I guess I get into the spirit of things the week before, and it ends abruptly ca. the 25th or 26th.

-I've collected like tons of vintage Christmas-tunes over the years (recorded ca. 1935-1980 - after that it mostly sucks big time, if it's not recordings of centuries old material) - like any style or genre there's plenty of great things to discover if you look hard and long enough.

And like leap years. I suggest moving it to February 29.

* my maternal grandfather's birthday was on Feb. 29, by the way.
