Is this about your definition of Krautrock, or you can just not imagine that Krautrock could emerge in Japan? ![]() |

Call me old-fashioned, but I'd always associated Krautrock with Germany and only discovered it's a worldwide phenomenon since joining ProgArchives.

If anybody should wonder why there's no Kraftwerk album in my classic German Prog collection, then I have to admit that they're too much Pop in my book, while I don't like their first three albums - even I was quite fond of Autobahn upon its release and found Radio-Aktivität quite alright as late as in the 2000s. ^ But now, I listened again to Ralf & Florian and I might find it quite alright.

The only Kraftwerk album I've ever owned was Autobahn on vinyl many years ago, but I'd have a long road to travel before I ever listen to a Kraftwerk album again. These days, I prefer the sound of Krautwerk to Kraftwerk. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

HI, So nice. Manuel G. always said that he was more of a live guitar player than he was a studio player ... and it really shows in this album. It's also very clear in another collaboration "In Blue" ... from 1995.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Best album of all time. (I mean, this can be challenged of course and with good reasons, but it has such a supreme inventiveness to it, and so many layers, I never get tired of it. Also it's good fun. " Oh Lord give us more money!")

I bought Holger Czukay's Movies album from a car boot sale for the princely sum of £1 without even hearing the album first, when finding a Krautrock album at a car boot sale is about as rare as being the first to reserve a sun-lounger at a holiday resort before the Germans lay their beach towels on them.

After second thought, I'm not quite sure, Paul, whether my list here is well in line with what you've expected of posts in this thread, but I think, it's at least a good contribution to show the richness of classic German progressive music, and also if to mention the most appreciated artists (what your thread title could indicate).

The only albums I haven't listened to in your Krautrock playlist are the three albums by Can, which somehow, I Can't ever find the time to listen to, but when I finally reach the letter "C" on my Krautrock playlist, then maybe I Can.

I can also tell about my actual "playlist" that I began the making of it in 1996 with Stratosfear as the first album, which in fact can be seen from the data included my list.

Not really. All of those "A-List" Krautrock bands on the previous page are all officially listed as Krautrock here on ProgArchives.

Anyway, my collection of classic German progressive music is not just Krautrock but also including some Prog Rock, Progressive Electronic and a single album of Prog Folk (Hölderlins Traum). ![]() |
