Ominous Virtuose Modern Prog Thrash, 5 stars, Spotify

Prog Rock/Jazz, 4 stars, Bandcamp
"The ugly cover aside, this is a very nice and eclectic prog rock release, reasonably innovative and at the same time laid-back and comfy. Borderline Zappa at times!"

Prog Metal, 3.5 stars, Spotify

Heavy Prog-Adj Rock, 3.5 stars, Bandcamp, Spotify
"Interesting approach - there are some prog (metal) leanings, but for the most part this is solid, driving heavy rock music. Not bad, although the vocals get a little cringy at times."

Prog Metal, 4.5 stars, Spotify
"Brilliant! Most Ihsahn releases are great, but this one is an awesome return to form. This is extreme, symphonic, calm and brutal, all at the same time!"

Non-Prog Heavy Metal, 3.5 stars, Bandcamp, Spotify
"Traditional Heavy Metal, well executed and conforming to all expectations."

Calm Instr Prog-Adj Rock, 3.5 stars, Bandcamp
"Very calm, sounds really like the cover art suggests. Acoustic guitar tracks, no percussion, playing along with the waves."

Serene Ambient Prog-Adj Post Soundscape, 4.5 stars, Bandcamp, Spotify
"This really sounds like a deep ocean journey, peaceful and serene. Layers of reverbing instruments, quite sophisticated musically, if you listen closely."

Renaissance - Scheherazade and Other Stories

I love this album, it's perfect (AND I spelled 'Scheherazade' right in one go!)
The Wheel of Time Turns, and Ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the shadow.

Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time...

Energetic Virtuose Modern Prog Power Metal, 4.5 stars, Spotify
"One of my favorite SyX releases, a timeless masterpiece of the type of progressive power metal that only SyX do so well balanced between raw energy and prog finesse."

Prog Post Rock/Metal, 4.5 stars, Bandcamp, Spotify
"One of the highlights of 2023 - extreme, but very well-rounded and melodic, and quite eclectic as well."

Prog Power Metal, 4 stars, Bandcamp, Spotify
"This is a really solid prog power metal release, ticking all the boxes while not breaking any new ground. Enjoyable!"

Melodic Prog Djent, 4.5 stars, Bandcamp, Spotify
"Melodic Djent, polished and sophisticated. The album takes you on a futuristic journey, fasten your seatbelts!"

I'm listening to a playlist of all the Devin Townsend songs in my music library that I have marked as 'loved'. Turns out I have 142 such songs across all his stuff

Cover art for Past to Present 1977 - 1990 by Toto

Toto - Past To Present 1977-1990

I don't usually buy many compilation albums but I made an exception here.

Mariusz Duda - Afr ai d (LP, 2023)
Instr Prog-Adj Post Electronic, 4 stars, Spotify
"A minimalistic instrumental electronic album by the Riverside vocalist. Intriguing, sounds like Lunatic Soul Redux."

Considering their long time vocalist left the band (after 20 something years, I don't know what happened), they came back with a solid album and the replacing vocalist did a great job, I expected worse because I loved the former vocalist, had rather unique voice/vocals.
