Not sure if these will be readable or not, but they are from an English assignment back in high school, 1976-77

here are some lyrics I am very fond of, well... anything by Peter Hamill i'm fond of...

From 'Childlike Faith in Childhood's End', the best song off of their best album (not their best track, but pretty dang close)

"All the jokers and gaolers, all the junkies
and slavers too,
all the throng who have danced a merry tune -
Human we can all be,
but Humanity we must rise above,
in the name of all faith and hope and love.
There's a time for all pilgrims,
and there's a time for the fakers too,
there's a time when we all will stand alone
and nude,
naked to the galaxies -
naked, but clothed in the overview...
as we reach Childhood's End we must start anew.

And though dark is the highway,
and the peak's distance breaks my heart,
for I never shall see it, still I play my part,
believing that what waits for us
is the cosmos compared to the dust of the past...
In the death of mere humans life shall start!"

Some of my favorite lyrics ever written, that and Pink Floyd's 'Time'
The Wheel of Time Turns, and Ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the shadow.

Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time...

I'd say, it's amazingly mature poetry in such young age.

I find the Childlike Faith lyrics very engaged and optimistic, and some of Hammill's lyrics are also some of my most favourite ones.

The weathered captain’s tattered, blue, and faded hat lay softly upon his ancient maps

His furrowed brow searched the waves as the blue icy water slapped and churned

This vessel weathered by years untold whined as its engine nearly snapped

The passengers whispered ‘round the bends, should they be concerned?

The engine moaned, uttered one last breath, then grinded to a halt

The captain scratched his long white beard, muttering all the while

He clambered down the ladder, now what was at fault?

All the ship needed was to make it to that one last mile

The passengers paced the worn oak deck, ready to give up

They all heard clanging from the hull, the captain’s trusty wrench

He turned some bolts, the engine cried, then gave a mighty jump

The passengers cheered, but soon they’d all be drenched

A pipe had burst, they were floating dead, adrift among the fog

The captain came back up with a ghostly smile on his already weathered face.

And yet a vicious hunger came from the sleepwalking crew among the salty lips

“And now, the feast begins”

The Value of Om

The occupy divides itself into occupied foreign currency
currently... the OM in a moment
the UMMM moment, the moment In AHHHH…
in a current, in a second, in a moment!

Multiply the focus, the feeling of suck
–the focus of which
so very few folk are in
Out of suck out of OM

In a second
(the one right before infinity)
the occupy, thus occupied, in the reverse infinity second
( the one right after time)
in a collapsing universe
the Big Bang reverse of which nothing can exist.

But wait a moment.
What’s the matter?
E=Mc2
ahh, but that’s relative:

in a collapsing universe
as the frequency of suck approaches infinity,
the speed of light decreases inversely creeping toward zero.
until nothing is left
E=MC zero
Nothing can divide anything by nothing.

Then, what is perfect?
A vacuum is perfect and a vacuum is nothing
Nothing is perfect and nothing is boring.
Though the frequency of flux in a vacuum sucks,
if the suck for a moment were to focus and flux –
shot like a spark from a quark
(the smallest piece of matter in the entire universe)

thus and therefore,  the smallest matters matter,
such as the Om of this poem
the Om in a tomb
The Om in a bomb one moment before BOOM!
the Om in your mom, the Om in her womb
the Om in this room
in a current, half a second, For A Moment!

-Cindy O

Is it a quite philosophical poem or only apparently, Cindy?

But I think that I often can't really separate my perception of the lyrics from the rest of the music, so it's probably not just about the lyrics themselves.

While I can be afraid of that we're moving into societies with more manipulation, and maybe even with turning a part of human beings into a kind of robots - in the longer run. Confused

             Expanding

Constant growth philosophy
practised in the art of music

Have to progress all the time
otherwise it's not progressive

To benefit for whom?

NO ESCAPING
Poem (eventually used as lyrics for song of same name on project with Steve McCann called Lord Of The Manor
© JD Dinsdale 1999

Tides are turning on the oceans
Currents shifting, new devotions
Winds once blowing 'cross the nation
Are now showing inclinations
Opinions noted in the papers
Stifling throated imitators
Dark clouds rolling, hear the thunder
Demons strolling pull you under

No escaping, contemplating
Eyes see red at every glance now
Fine hairs rising, exorcising
Give the dead another chance now

Are you ready or preparing
Keep it steady, music blaring
Words are spoken in the order
Spell is broken, cross the border
Rising spirits fill the spaces
Do you fear its changing faces

No escaping, contemplating
Eyes see red at every glancing
Flesh is crawling, on walls scrawling
Leads the dead to rhythmic dancing

Tuning into, blatant violence
Taste the sinew, hear the silence
Mindless masses on the pathway
Inhaling gasses, that's what they say

No escaping, contemplating
Eyes see red must take a stance now
Show your mettle, must not settle
Will you know which path to follow

A little bit of a call back
Ode To Halloween
Poem
© JD Dinsdale 1977

Ghosts, goblins, cowboys and more
Tonight they'll all be at my door
"Trick or Treat" is all I hear
Running out of treats is all I fear
But soon, I know, this day will end
And off to the dentist, my son, I'll send
Then when 365 days have elapsed
I'll subject myself to some more, perhaps
But until next year, on Halloween Night
When I'm over the cost and over the fright
I'll close my eyes each night and pray
That the neighbour's kids, at home, will stay

Stardust (Sections IX and XI of 'The Stardust Medley' by Atmos)

Stardust, round my head, through my eyes

Floating away, on wings like fire, one desire.

Climbing up towards the clouds

Stardust, where can you be?

Sunrise, round my head, through my eyes

Crimson light bathes my face, endless grace

Over hills, and piercing waters

Stardust, what can you be?

Sundown, round my head, through my eyes

Now comes the end of day, please stay

Going so far away, never to be seen again!

Stardust, how can you be?

Nebulas, round my head, through my eyes

Swathes of light, endless might

Unknown to millions, its heart gently sleeps.

Stardust, who can you be?

Stardust, in my head, through my eyes

A Flash of glory, end of story

Now I’m gone, my heart will rest

Stardust, don’t leave me….

Blackstar, in my head, through my brain

Thank you for this, endless bliss

My breath is gone, my eyes are black

Stardust, I thank you!!!

The Wheel of Time Turns, and Ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the shadow.

Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time...

Voices from the Nose, Part A: Hassock Ecological Library Table Chair as Ghost

be converted to a valid date in the sky
i found my toilet to clean the yard
i have a lot of manure bags
dumper truck with macaroni salad bird spot avenue
my headphones and spend of food safety cheese milk

the house eats bug junk car wheels
snow scooters and my brain pan-diarrhea
from now on, we can go to the mountain and cardboard
54 agents bathroom phone
you know, you know, ready to jump into the carpet of breeze

why won't weekday suffer into scroll?
around each cheek expires the tolerant moon
the complementary guideline dodges near the eagle
a pending driver eases scroll
timer wages the shining outlook in an imagined chemical

From the song of the same name on the Superluminal Pachyderm album Unsalted Pants (2013)

----------
i'm shopping for a new oil-cured sinus bag
that's a happy bag of lettuce
this car smells like cartilage
nothing beats a good video about fractions
