The idea is to list one track per album that you like from the 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1994 years. You can be as comprehensive in this as you like. I like to compare people's lists.
Here is what I came up with: - Rabih Abou-Khalil (Blue Camel. 1992, Arabic Jazz, Lebanon) - Aphex Twin "Ageispolis" (Selected Ambient Works 85-92, 1992, Ambient Techno, Scotland) - Aphex Twin "Mold" (Selected Ambient Works Volume II, 1994, Ambient Electronic, Ireland) - Björk "Play Dead" (Debut, 1993, Art Pop, Iceland)* - Bondage Fruit "Kakuu No Sakana" (Bondage Fruit, 1991, Zeuhl, Japan) - The Cardigans "Celia Inside" (Emmerdale, 1994, Indie-Pop, Sweden) - Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds "I Let Love In" (Let Love In, 1994, Alt. Rock, England) - Cocteau Twins "I Wear Your Ring" (Heaven or Las Vegas, Dream Pop, 1990, Scotland) - Cocteau Twins "Theft, And Wandering Around Lost" (Four-Calendar Café, 1993, Dream Pop, Scotland) - Current 93 "Hitler as Kalki (SDM)" (Thunder Perfect Mind, 1992, Neo/Psych Folk, England) - Current 93 "The Teeth Of The Winds Of The Sea" (Of Ruine or Some Blazing Starre, 1994, Neofolk, England) - Dead Can Dance "Black Sun" (Aion, 1990, Neoclassical Darkwave, Australia) - Dead Can Dance (Into the Labyrinth, 1993, Neoclassical Darkwave, Australia) - Depeche Mode "Waiting for the Night" (Violator, 1990, Synthpop, England) - Enya "Caribbean Blue" (Shepherd Moons, Celtic New Age, 1991, Ireland) - Fishmans "Kibun" (Orange, 1994, Funk, Neo-Psych, Japan) - The Future Sound of London "Vertical Pig" (Lifeforms, 1994, Ambient Techno, England) - Geinoh Yamashirogumi "Gaia" (Ecophony Gaia, 1990, New Age, Japan) - Loreena McKennitt "The Mystic's Dream" (The Mask and Mirror, 1994, Celtic New Age Folk, Canada) - Mercury Rev "Frittering" (Yerself Is Steam, 1991, Neo-Psych, US) - Nature and Organisation "Tears for an Eastern Girl" (Beauty Reaps the Blood of Solitude, 1994, Neofolk, England) - The Orb "Earth (Gaia)" (The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld, 1991, Ambient House, England) - Portishead "Roads" (Dummy, 1994, Trip Hop, England) - Pram "Radio Freak in a Storm" (The Stars Are So Big, the Earth Is So Small..., 1993, Post-Rock, England) - Pram "Blue" (Helium, 1994, Neo-Psych, England) - Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge" (Blood Sugar Sex Magik, 1991, Funk/Alt. Rock, US) - Slint "Good Morning, Captain" (Spiderland, 1991, Post-Rock, US) - Soundgarden "Black Hole Sun" (Superunknown, 1994, Grunge, US) - Stereolab "Surrealchemist' (Peng!, 1992, Neo-Psych, England) - Stereolab "Jenny Ondioline" (Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements, 1993, Exp. Rock, England) - Stereolab "Nihilist Assault Group" (Mars Audiac Quintet, Art/Indie Pop, Krautrock, England) - Swans "Love Will Save You" (White Light From the Mouth of Infinity, 1991, Gothic Rock, Neofolk, US) - Swans "The Other Side of the World" (Love of Life, 1992, Gothic Rock, Neofolk, US) - Swans "Love of Life" (Omniscience, 1992, Gothic Rock. Post-Punk, 1992)** - Talk Talk "After the Flood" (Laughing Stock, 1991, Post-Rock, England) - Tindersticks "Tyed" (Tindersticks, 1993, Chamber Pop, England) - Tuxedomoon "Licorice Stick Ostinato" (The Ghost Sonata, 1991, Chamber Music, US) - U Totem "Vagabond's Home" (U Totem, 1990, Avant Prog, US) - John Zorn/ Naked City "The James Bond Theme" (Naked City, 1990, Avant-Garde Jazz Rock, US) - John Zorn/ Naked City "Sunset Surfer\\" (Radio, 1993, Avant-Garde Jazz, Jazz-Rock, US) * Björk's "Play Dead" is on various re-issued releases of Debut, and not on the original release. ** While I have focused on studio recordings for the series, I really want to cover something from this quite little-known Swans live album. I considered including music from Angelo Badalamenti's Twin Peaks, Preisner's Three Colours and other soundtracks, but as a big soundtrack collector that could entail a whole other topic and I already am covering so much ground when it comes to music. I made a playlist of my tracks and will share it just in case anyone is interested in checking out any of my choices. Here are the past topics: 6: Your 1995-1999 track faves: One track per album 5- Your 2000-2004 track faves: One track per album (CLICK) 4: Your 2005-2009 track faves (one track per album) (CLICK) 3: Your 2010-2015 tracks faves (one per album) (CLICK) 2016-2019 Album tracks, one track per album (CLICK) One per act: 2020s tracks under ten minutes, or... (CLICK) Love to hear your choices, be it a long list, short list or somewhat in-between. I'm interested in getting to know people's specific tastes a little deeper. |

Thanks for the lists Robert and Will.
Thanks Will. The Soundgarden and Red Hot Chile Peppers' songs were favourites of mine that played regularly on the radio in the 90s. While it's got kind of mussy sound, I guess while pretty different the one of these I'd most relate to the Soundgarden track is Mercury Rev's. One of these I find really fun and is a favourite of mine here is Naked City's (John Zorn) "Sunset Surfer". ----------- Note on my selections, I had forgotten to mention that I had decided to go with Slint's "Washer". One "album" I love released in the 90s is Cardiacs' Songs for Ships and Irons (1991), which I did not add because it's a compilation. Never-the-less, I will add the instrumental "All His Geese Are Swans!" to the playlist. Been told it's not very good before, but I love it. And while I'm at it, I forgot to include something from Cardiacs' Heaven Born and Ever Bright (1992), will go with "Snakes-A-Sleeping". Edited by Logan - October 22 2023 at 10:38 |

Thanks, Paul. I heard that Enigma album so many times back in the day with friends. Good memories.
One which I had neglected to mention in my list, but later added to the playlist, despite being one of my favourites from the 90s, is "Borgo" off the Swedish group Komeda's 1993 album Pop på Svenska. It's very "me". |

For the benefit of us Brits who don't know how to pronounce Gaelic names, Moya is the phonetic English spelling of Maire Brennan's Irish name, in just the same way as Eithne Padraigin Ni Bhraonain is known more simply to us all as Enya.
