Make a list, any length of greatest songs by The Who (Who are listed as Proto-Prog on here)

My top 3 would be

1) Love Reign O'er Me
2) Won't Get Fooled Again
3) Baba O-Reily

The Wheel of Time Turns, and Ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the shadow.

Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time...

prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen

That's their best song as far as I'm concerned. It's majestic and incredible.

Hi,

What  a shame ... Roger Ruskin Spears version of this song is much better, and even has Keith "kicking the drums", given that the story goes that Keith learned to do that from Legs Larry Smith, the BDB drummer!

There are way too many things I like about this band ... and I have a hard time choosing one, but the stuff from WHO ARE YOU, usually stands out the most for me, although (obviously) there is stuff from before that stands out gloriously!

Can never really take the parts from the whole of any post-Tommy/pre-Kenny Jones Who albums, but some of those pre-Tommy album tracks are a gas, especially:

Much Too Much
See My Way
Armenia City in the Sky
Our Love Was
Rael
I Can't Reach You

Still, nothing beats the Quick One from the Stones' Rock n Roll Circus - primo early Who.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

The Who isn't one of those bands that I delved into too deeply so my list is mostly the songs the rock stations here in CT played in the 80s.

In no particular order

Baba O'Reilly
Bargain
The Song Is Over
Won't Get Fooled Again
The Real Me
Love Reign O'er Me
Long Live Rock
Pinball Wizard
Sister Disco
You Better You Bet
Another Tricky Day

There are many more that I like but these are my favorites. My 1 and 2 are probably Love Reign o'er Me and The Song is Over.
We all dwell in an amber subdomain, amber subdomain, amber subdomain.

This thread reminds me that I never replaced my vinyl copy of Quadrophenia that I sold back in the 1990s. I have rectified that. Thanks! The hors d'oeuvres were great!
