Hi.
At 4:20 of the song Defiance from Galahad's Empires Never Last when the piano takes over, there's a sound in the background, providing the atmosphere of that part. I was wondering how I could achieve that sound with what instrument, which knobs should I turn or whatever you might know about it. I think I'd heard something like it before in the beginning of Shine On. I've been looking to get that sound for a while now. Thanks for the help in advance.

The instrument is called the windchimes. Judging by how anemic and non-washy they sound in the track, to my ear it appers the band used a model with a quite low number of bars. Generally, the more bars the windchime set has, the more shimmering and rich the sound is.

Thank you very much. Do you think its the same thing from Shine On or am I imagining things and thats an arpeggiator kind of thing with a synth, like On The Run but more high-pitched?

In Shine On it's a synth.

It is a great album. I feel it is Galahad’s best even after all these years.

Hard to say which edition I favor more. The 2015 remaster or the original 2007 CD.
I think I gotta revisit this….
