The Astonishing thing is, it was my friend's 7-year old daughter who inadvertently introduced me to to the music of Dream Theater way back in 1992 when I didn't know Progressive Metal even existed. My friend's daughter won Dream Theater's Images and Words album in a radio competition, but she was too young to appreciate it at the time, so my friend sold the album to me, and I've been a DM fan ever since then. The Source of most of my Dream Theater CD's was FOPP Records in Nottingham, which has long since closed down. I'm also a big fan of Ayreon and it's my Actual Fantasy that I'll one day find an Ayreon CD on sale at a bargain price at a charity shop or car boot sale. Smile

Black Sabbath's Paranoid was my not-so-gentle introduction into the world of Heavy Metal (just as it was for many other headbanging fans of my age) and I've been a fan of Black Sabbath fan ever since - at least up until the dreadful Born Again album anyway, which should have been aborted before birth. Thumbs Down

By the way, David, I've yet to hear any Head-Bang & Olufsen Metal from Denmark, but I'm sure you know of some. Smile

I certainly agree that Paranoid is "not-so-gentle introduction" to Metal, and as much as I love it today, I wasn't really ready for it until being quite a bit into other Metal.

Danish Metal? Since you're fond of DT and Ayreon, I think Royal Hunt and Wuthering Heights would be a good place to start.

Personally, I've only found so far one Danish Metal album I appreciate, which is Merciful Fate's Melissa. I may doubt though if you'll like it, not least considering the Satanic lyrics and the character of the vocals.

When talking about BS and introduction to Metal, I think Master of Reality is more gentle, or Vol. 4 which actually was my very first Metal album back in 1972, and one I was very fond of.
