Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music? I think it was meant to be a joke anyway, against his record company.

You're lucky, there are much worse albums than this one. LOL

I read Greg and Keith's book side by side.. You would enjoy Keith's more. Two completely different books. Greg's book seems like it was written by a politician, but I can respect him being diplomatic, which is a term Keith used to describe Greg.

I listened to this album for the first time last night expecting something terrible, but I actually enjoyed it. There was even a track that was familiar to me because it was in the 13th Anniversary Show. The audio quality wasn't great, sounding like it was done in a hall rather than a studio, but the music itself was better than expected. Actually, I enjoyed this first time listen more than my first (and so far only) time listen of Eskimo.

Equator and Different World (the albums before Raging Silence and after) are much weaker IMO.

I don't mind these three albums. Raging Silence stands out, it's quite good IMO. Tongue

I thoroughly enjoyed 'Black Moon' actually

Yep it was okay but not an entirely organic album. Emerson had already recorded the track Changing States 3 years earlier on his solo album of the same name but calling it Another Frontier. Also same with Romeo and Juliet (Montagues and Capulets on the same album). Paper Blood was also conceived some years earlier as part of Lakes 'Ride The Tiger' project (Money Talks). Mark Mancina produced it and took some flak from ELP fans at the time although I honestly can't remember why! Thought he did a decent job. It falls under 3 star category and is better than Works Vol 2, Love Beach and ELPowell so represented some return to form. I was just pleased to see them on the tour followed. Palmers drum kit was pared down quite a bit compared to the arena based ELP of the seventies and Greg Lake stood centre stage as they lined up a la their name. It was good and very professionally well done.
In the Hot Seat was bllody awful but there were all sorts of things going on at that time that overtook it. Thye toured South America a year or two later and thankfully ditched the whole thing. There was a new peice called Crossing The Rubicon that was to be the return of the band to its classic perido stylwise but never happened because Emerson and Lake fell out big time (not for the first time!). After that they stuck mainly to solo projects (aside from the Emerson and Lake tour of America weirdly without Palmer and using a drumming backing track) and only got back together as a whole band for their last hurrah at the ill fated High Voltage festival. I can say I was there at least.

Don't know if it is THE worst, but it is a strong candidate: Back in school some of the kids were crazy about an album with Smurf versions of contemporary eurodance hits.

My Bottom Dozen Albums Thumbs Down

 1984: Current 93 - Nature Unveiled - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBpeT1AN6dU
1980: Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy_6SsTzTTs
 1978: Public Image Ltd. - Public Image - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL54305507986C182C
 1978: Throbbing Gristle - D.O.A. Third and Final Report - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mFBZLoIk-ku-LDbFKaJYcJ3hlGgb1oGTE

I'm sure there are many more absolute dregs to be unearthed, but these are the most recent  dozen that first came to mind and I'd have to scrape even deeper to the bottom of the barrel to find more.

Earth Moving would be a decent album, were it not for "Innocent", "Runaway Son", and "Earth Moving". The rest is fine, if not great. Love Adrian Belew's guesting on two tracks. The real beef everyone has with the album is that it's his first with no instrumental pieces.

Not sure if I ever posted in this thread earlier, but Doug Walker's utter b@stardization of The Wall immediately comes to mind

Take me down, to the underground
Won't you take me down, to the underground
Why oh why, there is no light
And if I can't sleep, can you hold my life

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
