Compiled from 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die - Fifty Years of Music from 1955 to 2004.

Is this the worst 1001 Albums poll so far with two utter 1-star stinkers included, or am I just Out of Step with the times? Oh well, I'll just have to Let It Be, seeing as there's only a couple of albums for me to Treasure in this poll. I can promise it does get marginally better in Part 2 of the 1984 polls though. Smile

3 stars 1984: Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Welcome to the Pleasure Dome - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kgP8in2fUSz0PCb0gPnhcZyNWOMrRiDBI
 1984: Run-DMC - Run-DMC - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USSNbp9jsos
4 stars 1984: Sade - Diamond Life - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYMfByIx4O0

Not the worst, as I love these three:

Cocteau Twins - Treasure
Sade - Diamond Life
Prince and the Revolution - Purple Rain

Sade's first album Diamond Life is excellent - a real band too, not just a singer with hired hands

The following year's Promise was also good, but too samey and the surprise was gone.

I haven't listened to Sade's album in a long time, but I always liked it. Maybe still more than the Frankie Goes to Hollywood, which also has some strong material (and which I've revisited not long ago).
