If there are a team that seldom or not gets the talk. The respect they deserve, it is the band from the Muscle Shouls. Recorded a lot of songs and records, responsible for some og the mightigest funk grooves in the history. The core of Pete Carr, Barry Beckett, Roger Hawkins, David Hood and Jimmy Johnson, had a chemistry which caused imidiate groove.

Have anyone seen the Muscle Shoals documentary?

I've watched this documentary many many times, it's fantastic. So many people have no clue about the Swampers and who they actually were and what they did.
They were the heart and soul of the Muscle Shoals sound. And pretty much every band of that era wanted to record in Muscle Shoals to experience what was in the water. Hard to find another out of the way place that evoked such musical spirit.
I lived in the TriCities (as we called it) which was Florence, Sheffield and Muscle Shoals I lived in Florence and drove by the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio everyday going to work (it's in Sheffield not Muscle Shoals technically), an unassuming brick building, the uneducated would have no clue what went on inside that building.
Fame studios was in downtown Muscle Shoals. This film should be a must see by all music lovers.

Any pro musician knows exactly who these guys are and appreciates their work. On the west coast you had a similar group called the Wrecking Crew, Hal Blaine etc.

From backing Traffic on Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory to appearing on 3 of Bob Seger's biggest albums, the 1970s would not have been the same without these guys.

Clearly, without his vision one could say the Muscle Shoals sound may never have been created. An American musical icon for sure, I would call him that.
