Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Dare or The Visitors. They're great albums, but none of this year's selections would end up in my personal 1981 top ten.

I could've easily voted for Rush too, but I Dare to be different.

Moving Pictures. Only album of the ones listed I own or have heard in full. Thinking about it, I may have heard the Tom Tom Club in full.

I always loved this album, released in 1981. 'Over The Wall' is sublime!

Yes I do 'like' Rush, I have 5 or 6 of their album, I just don't rate them as highly as many. I have them as 11's and 10's on Gnosis. 11 equates to - Excellent. While not a classic, an album that is very enjoyable and an important part of ones collection Of this list they were the clear winner especially with that album which is my favorite.

Rush is one of my favourite bands and Moving Pictures is a top, top album. But Mask is phenomenal and, sorry Rush, gets my vote.

I think I will go with Bauhaus over ABBA, which makes this A BBAuhaus sort of response.
When I did a topic listed my favourite in and out of PA albums for about the last sixty years a couple months back, my choice releases of the year were Eskaton's 4 Visions and Phew's Phew. Oh, and sorry for going a bit off topic, but I loved Rush's Moving Pictures when in high school and I wanted to mention (I did in another topic last night) that I listened to what I thought was a very enjoyable hour long podcast on Rush last night as I subscribe to Comfort Blanket on my podcast player. "Actor Rufus Wright (Rogue One, Quantum of Solace, The Audience) talks about the comfort he gets from the often overlooked 1974 debut album by Canadian heavy prog rock trio Rush, and we share our thoughts on the appeal of heavy metal for teenage boys, the gawky magic of school bands, and the sweet horror of adolescent lyrics." https://shows.acast.com/comfort-blanket/episodes/rush-with-rufus-wright https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/comfort-blanket/id1614879928 Just in case someone here is interested. I like the humour, light-heartedness, warmth, and good-natured irreverence of this podcast and I do think those who take Rush and such things super seriously (and get hung up on certain details) might not enjoy it nearly as much as I did.
