No album here I would give more than a four, but I do like these three:

Marvin Gaye - Here, My Dear
Dire Straits - Dire Straits
Brian Eno - Ambient 1: Music for Airports

Went with the Cars debut. Talking Heads would be my second choice. I am only a minor bag within the sugar delights of the brass exhaust.

Paul, your low overall ratings are shocking. You are normally such a positive guy.

I should vote for Throbbing Gristle for the fun of it; it's certainly in the five or six albums I like here, but if I'm honest I love Dire Straits'  debut more. (I'm still surprised Paul gives this just three stars, which if my perception of him is correct just means that he wouldn't leave a pub just because this album is played. Tongue)

Dire Straits I guess.

No Rainbow, Queen, Foreigner, UK, Jethro Tull, Whitesnake, Rush, Judas Priest... well, not worthy enough it seems.

I agree. This is quite possibly my worst ever year-by-year poll, but Things Can Only Get Better in 1979, at least according to D:Ream. Look out for Professor Brian Cox on keyboards. Blink and you'll miss him. Tongue

Thin Lizzy - that's a cracking album

2nd would be Devo, played that to death back in the day.

My three-star rating for Dire Straits' debut doesn't look nearly so bad when you compare it to my overall ratings for their entire discography. Smile

literally nothing there interests me, I'm afraid...
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I'm surprised by the lack of love for Van Halen's legendary debut.

I considered Throbbing Gristle, but went to the other end of the spectrum and voted Dire Straits.

The Cars' debut was taking music in a direction I didn't like in 1978, but I have recovered from that.  It's fantastic

The Cars' debut still manages to drive me to distraction, but in a good way. Smile
